Now with Captain Corrupt gone and hopefully with a change in personnel(Dhakkan Fletcher out) we can restart the long arduous journey to the top. Not Bang and Zim though :giggle: However, I do believe that we are amongst the lowest in the major Test playing nations. In fact, one could argue that even WI have a better pace attack when it fires. Roach is better than any of our pacers (except perhaps Yadav) and Taylor used to be pretty good. Losing Shiilngford made a huge dent in their attack. To answer the OPs question: I think the SL batting is currently better as they have two batsmen in red hot form (Sanga and Matthews), whilst our young guns need to improve and acclimatize further. The bowling is roughly on par, except for Herath who is much better than Ashwin or Jaddu.

Only 2 of our pacers can really be disciplined for atleast an entire over. One is BK and the other is Ishanth on a good day (toothless but disciplined!!) SL fielding was nothing to write home about either, but the bowlers maintained pressure. The Indian attack will bowl a good over from one end and will compensate by giving boundary balls at the other. The only thing Indian pacers can do at the moment is bowl its own team out of the match!! And Mathews +sangakarra > Vijay+rahane+kohli (on any pitch) Chandimal is also a very good test player. But India's batting is solid. Vijay+Kohli+Rahane come good 7 to 8 times out of 10, plus Pujara, Dhawan, nohit/replacement can chip in as well. India's batting is its only blessing. I get a feeling being out of Ranji for long periods make our batsmen forget their historic strengths.........:haha:

Lord Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 No way.Their record looks better only because they play 2-3 Test series instead of 4-5 match series we play which are obviously harder In NZ we competed in both matches much better where they got flogged in first Test and gonna lose this one too

They both have good playing strategies. My option is that Sri Lanka is a bit better than India, because they show some serious attitude.

It depends how long Sanga plays Exactly. Herath is a much better spinner than what we have, and Sanga + Matthews has been a god combo in the last 12 months. Still, it's fair to say that both Ind and SL are poor overseas - I think we win the battle slightly though...
