adi B Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 The problem with umesh is that he doesn't have control over his release, I think he holds the ball too tight and that is why he is not able to land the ball consistently in the right spots and bowling way too short, the grip has to be loosened a bit .needs to practice regularly and pitch at least 60% of the balls in the good length area in the nets,bowling coach has to help but these things come from ur inside and only umesh can correct umesh!!

CG Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Umesh has had 2 bad tests after a long layoff from tests he will get better.we have play these guys only way to build an attack.we have given batsman 20-30 tests ishant 60 odd tests.these guys will be far better.

Those first class matches include test match records too which has skewed his average. His FC average when he debuted for India was 25 despite bowling on pattas at Nagpur. He wasnt good in FC after coming back from injury though but his Ranji trophy will still be around 27-28. Still this FC average thing is overrated. We should have been playing Joginder Sharma with that logic. I had asked you about FC average of Hazlewood and Starc, but you didn't reply. Their FC average is 30, 31, respectively, but both bowled well.

It is all down to confidence. when he sprays the ball, he tries to bowl slow to get more accuracy but it doesn't happen even then because his ibaccuracy is not because he bowls fast, more to do with his shape on the crease. Same with Shami. Like batsmen when playing their shots, bowlers also need to maintain right shape while bowling.

Yadav was dropped for 2 years? after last Aus tour. One can get desperate. Hopefully they are treated well under this new leadership.

That is based on the fact that accuracy can be achieved thru practice but speed cannot be and you need both to be successful at intl level. Getting a good bowling coach will be key to taking these bowlers to next level.

I beleive it's the bowling strategy which has failed..Indian bowlers were trying for lbw n wanted to bounce every ball at one time ..I guess idea was to scare the batsman n it misfired. Blame the folks who decided this strategy. Why were they not asked to bowl at 4th n 5th stump All the time.
