express bowling Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 We are so quick to blame coaches. These guys aren't kids. They are adults that have been playing the game for 10-15 years. They should be able to work it out themselves. Its a patience and discipline thing. In the sub-standard and diluted Ranji comp, their patience is never really tested. We need more zonal matches and longer zonal competitions.....preferably a league. Where the competition is much better. We need more sporting pitches in our domestics too. We need to pick a couple of accurate 135 k or more pacers, preferably tall, who can bowl in a boring manner all day. We need to identity pacers in domestics who are fighting it out when the conditions are not favourable. Those who have experience bowling when conditions are tough....but they still maintain accuracy and bowl with effort.

If we have a more intense competition (maybe a longer zonal comp like you said) and a range of pitches then batsmen and bowlers will be playing against a higher standard and will be less likely to get away with bad balls / bad shots. Add to that a range of pitches and all of a sudden you have something that resembles a strong first class system.
