Is it time for MSD to stand down?

This very weak Indian team is gonna give a fantastic chance for our padosis to change their WC streak against us :(( I wonder how many ICF-ers are gonna watch that at the stadium! :(( . And we will exit very early or by Quarterfinals for sure with this Dhawan-Rahane-Rayudu-Nohit-Akshar kinda domestics type team. After that early WC exit, MSD will step down.

Digressing from the topic, the fact that we don't even have other options except Kohli shows how unsettled/out-of-form our team is ATM

He's barely a shadow of his former self, this Australian tour has been an absolute disaster for him, a leader needs to lead, and lead from the front, and given how Kohli seems to thrive on the pressures of captaincy why not let him lead? Time is running out for India, they have weeks, not months to get the balance right, tic toc.
Totally agree. If Dhobi is not replaced by Kohli for the World Cup, it will be exactly like 2007. Embarrassing.

I agree. I am sad to say this but Dhoni is finished. Unless India wins the world cup, I don't see much future for him. His batting form isn't helping him in any way either. He bats like he's playing a test, he has lost all his mojo.

The way Ozzies commentrators hype up Dhoni is unbelievable.. I think Dhoni can still turn around the ship for this WC.. Once the batting unit clicks, our bowlers can take wickets through pressure..

dhoni's only fault is his field placements and lack of enforcement. he needs to be tough on his bowlers and order them to bowl to an aggressive field. usually when we get fielders around the batsmen, pressure builds up

It is pointless to blame this loss on Dhoni. He is out of form with the bat, but his captaincy tactics are still pretty decent. This loss should be blamed on every single player equally and not just Dhoni. And anyway I highly doubt Kohli can really replace Dhoni, especially in ODIs.

Dhoni hasnt been in the best of form in ODIs , I can think of 2-3 ocassions in recent times where he got out at wrong time after getting a start ..not the msd we know . Hopefully he will peak at the right time . We will struggle even if one of Raina , Virat and Dhoni has a bad WC

We just need one of Rohit, Kohli or Dhoni to click each match and make a defendable total (~260) and have the bowlers do a decent job in defending it.

Even if Dhoni steps down, who is the replacement? And should the replacement be thrown out after 2-3 failures as well? I think Dhoni should be backed until the world cup is over. That being said, I hope Kohli is okay with not yet being captain in ODIs. Normally, younger players take over ODI captaincy first and then take over for tests as well. But in the case of Kohli, it is the opposite that is happening.

In ODIs captaincy is not as important as it is in tests. You come with a set a game plan and stick to that formula more often than not. There is very little scope of improvisation. Anyways, this world cup should be his last tournament as captain.

He should quit captaincy after the WC. The main problem right now is our top order, not Dhoni. We don't have a set top order. The batsman are also not doing their job. Sort out the combo, and stick with it. Doesn't matter if we lose this inconsequential tri-series. I remember Australia losing two ODI series prior to the 2007 WC. We all know how they ended up performing in the West Indies.
