Austin 3:!6 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Umar Gul bowled poorly as simple as that. It was not like he hit those boundaries on some unplayable or great deliveries. He was gone once he got a good one from Riyaz. Dhawan is as capable of punishing such bad deliveries. No you are just a pessimistic person...not surprising :icflove: Dhawan is not capable of punishing any deliveries...let alone bad ones
rkt.india Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 No you are just a pessimistic person...not surprising :icflove: Dhawan is not capable of punishing any deliveries...let alone bad ones I am not pessimistic. It is you who are going back to past rather than showing confidence in players playing presently. What has Sehwag done in Australia in ODIs despite touring 3 times? You are comparing Sehwag's batting in India to Dhawan's batting in Australia. Dhawan must have done something right to average 40 plus in ODIs.

Dhawan must have done something right to average 40 plus in ODIs. And when did I go back? When did I said Sehwag should have played this WC? I was just talking about his epic knock against Pakistan in 2011 WC. Its you who started the drama saying it was nothing special but rather poor bowling from Gul, how he couldn't play Riaz bla bla... Basically the same old stuff Not that something we are not used to hear from you, so I said not surprising. And yes, wake me up when Dhawan even plays a single meaningful knock in ODI's :two_thumbs_up:
bowl_out Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 http://ibnlive.in.com/news/cricketnext/yuvraj-singhs-world-cup-2015-dream-still-alive/526368-78.html General media speculation I guess :potstir: Yuvraj Singh may become the classic example of 'someone's loss is someone's gain' if India's fitness worries around their four recuperating players don't settle down by February 7 - the day Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar go through a fitness test in Australia. The #LoutegaYuvraj trend may return on social networks, especially if Jadeja is deemed unfit with no chance of recovering in time for India's first match against Pakistan on February 15. Yuvraj, the Man of the Series in India's 2011 winning campaign, fits the bill to address India's ongoing middle-order worries. He brings to the team the same ilk, left-arm spin, as Jadeja while being way superior to the Saurashtra allrounder - in fact not a logical comparison - when it comes to batting. However, in case Rohit, who opens the batting for India in ODIs, is forced to return within touching distance from making his World Cup debut, the BCCI selectors may seriously ponder issuing a ticket to Murali Vijay, who was in terrific form during the Test series in Australia. Interestingly, it was widely reported that Dhoni had floated Vijay's name at time of selecting India's 15-man squad, but the skipper's recommendation for his former Chennai Super Kings team-mate was conveniently turned down by the selectors. On the contrary, it might well happen that both Rohit and Jadeja are declared fit, after which the slim, left-over hopes for Yuvraj and Vijay will die down. However, there is high likelihood of Ishant Sharma missing the bus due to his ankle injury, which will open the door for either Mohit Sharma or Dhawal Kulkarni, who have been asked to stay back until the fitness test on February 7. At the time of selecting India's World Cup squad, Sandeep Patil & Co may have harped upon their intent to not look back and move ahead, but considering India's winless streak on Australia tour, including failure to get going even in the ODI tri-series, it won't be a surprise if Yuvraj, who recently hit three centuries in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, returns to the scheme of things in India's Cup defence.

Was I wrong? didn't Gul bowl poorly? and it is nothing for an opener to attack in PP in Indian conditions. You are talk like it was the first time ever it had happened or if it was Glenn McGrath bowling. And about last line, I think Dhawan was MOS in 2013 CT and they were ODIs.
rkt.india Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What memories.. what an opener. And now we have Hackwan :(:(:(:( These are your words. You are talking like Sehwag played that innings in Australia. This habit of talking about one and then comparing and pulling down other players is really bad. Sehwag was no good in Aus too. If you talk about SC and India, Dhawan has done well too. Sehwag has scored grand total of 205 runs in 12 ODIs in Australia with the highest of 37 at a mighty average of 17.

In the context of that game, Sehwag's and Raina's knock were most crucial. Much better than Sachin's knock. Gul was the highest wicket taker in that World Cup and Sehwag took him on in all important game. So to not give any credit to the batsman and just saying bowler bowled poorly is rubbish. Any other batsman would have looked to play off Gul because he was the premier bowler at that time.
Number Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Romanticizing with the past is good but he was an utter failure after that and Dhawan made immidiate impact once he came.
adi B Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Concentrating on the thread ,I think viru's sf line up is just fine except srl in place of saf. Saf will lose in the qf,have no doubt
Mindreader Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What will happen to ipl if india gets out in 1st round

BlueBee Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Why didn't he make Riyaz bowl poorly then? He didnt get enough balls from him to make him bowl poorly. As simple as that.
