Australia's lack of interest in the world cup

They've got it right, the Aussie cricket fans know their priorities. Why waste your time on this 50 Over shyte, when you can save up for a glorious day of test cricket where Mitchell Johnson can run in bombing down bouncer after bouncer. The Aussies are not interested in ODI cricket because it's boring, unimportant and above all else lacking any of the skills you see in Tests.

Well when mitch johnson can't do damage against India in a test match aside from one innings (2nd test, 2nd innings) then surely aussies are screwed? Better to not put all eggs in one basket

Too much competitive cricket . IPL Champions Trophy ICC world T20 (every 2 years) They are good only when wait time is longer . But nowadays during wait time we have so many things going on that time just flows by.

It's bad timing, this is very late in the season and australia doesn't have a lot of people and majority won't even care to go to a game (I guess that's same everywhere). The other problem is scheduling, they could have played 2 games a day and finished the World Cup in 2/3 time. Competitive cricket started 5 months ago and people have been watching cricket every week, even the most passionate fans won't attend more than two games a season. Last, why the heck they don't have a game on Sunday? Why couldn't they play qtr on thurs, Friday, sat and Sunday? Wouldn't that be easier for everybody?

We need to make cricket more batsmen friendly to enhance interest in the Game. - There should be no fielders outside the 30 yard circle. - The fielders inside the circle should be standing on one leg at all times except the Wk. If the 2nd leg touches the ground a free hit is awarded to the batting team. - No more run-ups for Fast bowlers . They can Hop but not run.

There is another dimension to this. How enjoyable is it for an Aussie to attend a match surrounded by hordes of Indians many of whom are from India or recently settled in Oz? I don't mean to sound racist but i used to love attending matches in the UK where you had great banter between white England fans and British Asians. There needs to be a comfortable familiarity before you can celebrate your differences. Nowdays the Indian contingent at UK matches is mostly folk that have recently settled in the UK and frankly they do not represent me. I'd rather stay at home and watch on TV. It's a shame.

I thought the Aussie supporters came in good numbers in the mcg against England,scg against srl and yesterday as well ,it's just that it's not full house so its catching everyone's attention. the Aussie crowd was pretty passionate yesterday and in expressed emotions throughout the game

Totally agree,it's a bit of fatigue for the fans as well.even I don't feel the same buzz compared to the last wc nor was I disappointed after the loss to srl in the wt20 finals

Shouldn't you be supporting Eng if you are a British born in UK (not immigrated)? :hmmmm: .... And if the above were true, why would you judge those who are born and brought up in Ind and coming to the grounds to support Ind? And then go on to unnecessarily imply that others may not enjoy such a banter? (don't people travel all over the world to watch games?)

What do you expect when a WC is in February and March! That is football season to 95% of Australians. Most people have a football team of some sort. Then you have the dilly scheduling of the month long bore of the group stage.

That was my least favorite part of this world cup. It was like waiting for eternity for each meaningful match. It looked like watching seperate ODI series in various countries.

Second, I can understand a native Aussie not wanting to attend a match in his homeland where 90% are going to be Indian. You are free to fail the Tebbit test but not free to call others (who actually have the right to support Ind) as not representing "you" because it is you who is in the wrong court :winky: Nobody stopped the Aussies from grabbing the tickets for the SF. Aus was more or less confirmed to play at SCG w/o knowing who it will play against. This shows that there could be other reasons for not attending than what you perceive

thats a lame excuse. your telling me that an event which happens every 23 years , you cant follow two sports? I follow the premier league football in the UK so that means i cant follow the cricket world cup? Dont give me the scheduling excuse either. You have NZ who are filling out stadia. Even they have super league rugby. I read 40,000 attended the Wellington stadium? (need confirmation on this) Th world cup in Qatar is in December. for 2022. You will not watch it cause its in the middle of cricket season? I can understand if Australia crashed out and this was two neutral teams. But not when the home team is playing.
