Number Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 RCB has some of the biggest names in batting and SRH in bowling. But the intent and commitment among foreign and top Indian players seem to missing. Not just this season but almost every season. Compare this to CSK or KKR. Right from coaches to captain and players everyone looks committed and their on-field intensity is a notch above others. I think captain usually sets the tone when it comes to installing winning mentality.
vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Steyn shows lot of intent.. But he often blows hot and cold in this format. Sangakkara is one guy who absolutely showed no interest lol. But he faked that he had interest .
Number Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 ^ Steyns gets thrashed by no names when there is no swing. He has himself said IPL is like paid holiday for me. :cantstop:
vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 ^ Steyns gets thrashed by no names when there is no swing. He has himself said IPL is like paid holiday for me. :cantstop: He was with RCB then. But he did show some intent. Remember the game where he helped DC beat RCB, which eventually enabled CSK go through to playoff. He had his moments. But on these docile pitches he can be a match loser as much as a match winner.
f.b.m Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I think the quality of the Indian contingent in the side matters here. All the good sides have strong Indian internationals and domestic players. Its hard for the internationals to take things seriously when their teammates are Ashish Reddy and Harhsal Patel.
rkt.india Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 ^ Steyns gets thrashed by no names when there is no swing. He has himself said IPL is like paid holiday for me. :cantstop: you remember that comment but don't remember his comment next season when he realized that IPL is a serious tournament and you cant play and be successful just on reputation without putting your bets effort.
govinda Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 srh needs to get rid of moody and co and make styen captain
G_B_ Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 The problem for SRH was that they arrived in the auctions etc by that time the more established Indian as well as foreign players were already picked up. Nobody is going to let go of for eg AB when he is in his prime. I dont think RCB's home ground helps either. Its a flat deck + its small. KKR had a poor start to the IPL. Credit to SRK though i dont like him but he and his team have replaced everybody from their original KKR team and its worked with GG.

They are always chasing big or under pressure to score big there but apart from Gayle who is inconsistent and ABDV, they do not have any batsman capable of scoring big quickly. ABDV bats too low. and you will need very good bowlers to stop teams scoring big there which they do not have.

RR also have been very intelligent in goroming young potential Indians. Same cannot be said about other teams. They end up picking too many international players, but can play only 4.

Except for Nehra and in one match Raina rest of India contingent contributed nothing this season for you :cantstop:
BeautifulGame Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Except for Nehra and in one match Raina rest of India contingent contributed nothing this season for you :cantstop: Dhoni in SRH match Ashwin mostly has been good Even Mohit was pretty good when we defended 150 against DD We always have 2-3 Indian players performing every match .Same with RR and KKR

bulbul Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 MSD 5 - 130 - 32.50 - 116 SR. Raina scored half the runs in yesterdays match.

bulbul Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 4 Overs 22 for 1 4 Overs 25 for 1 .Ashwin has struggled in last 3 games but was excellent at chepauk . 53 off 29 balls against srh Raina had good matches against MI and spanked Bangalore yesterday Overall not good...Ashwin was not even continued after his first over yesterday...Team have 7 Indian players so just nitpicking 4 to 5 good innings out of possible 35 is doesn't make good reading.
f.b.m Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 None of that affects the team culture. Ashwin, Raina, Dhoni and even Mohit have usually done well over the years which is why CSK has been strong. Besides 10 of the 11 players for them have played international cricket with 9 of them being active now. All of this would translate to a better team culture than a team with lumberjacks like Bisla or ATGs like Dominic Joseph.

The thing is CSK rarely fail as a team, like in the recent RR match. If someone fails, another one will step up. Yesterday, Raina and Nehra stepped up, while baz and dhoni failed, faf stepped up when bravo failed. Against MI just the openers finished the game, SRH it's Baz and dhoni when raina and other failed, vs DD its Nehra and Bravo. It's always the same in every season.
