Texan Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I remember a match in which our team was chasing a very small total of some 17-18 runs in 6 overs playing some limbu-timbus. I went to open and finished the match in 5 balls. Even non-striker did not get a chance to bat :P My team-mates were so pissed that I was virtually thrown out of the team and told, "No more batting for you today."

Included in play, but doesn't count. So, they would get to play in the end and any runs they make would not be included in the score. Captains call out players in the team, bad ones would get in the end by default. It was humiliating if somebody doesn't want you in the team. Leg side only runs. Tonking in the cow corner was everybody's favorite shot. No runs behind the wicket. 1d, 2d - declared runs if the ball hits a compound wall rolling or direct.

zen Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Depending up on the playing conditions: * One tip one hand * Body / Leg (in lieu of LBW, i.e. if the ball hits body/leg 2 or 3 times, you are out) * Esp. for indoor cricket - If the ball hits the walls directly without pitching you are out (to stop the batsmen from playing outrageous or irresponsible shots indoors). This also meant that no 6s * Tree catch allowed * In some circumstances - if you break something you are out, for e.g. a glass window, or if you hit the ball in to a well, or if the ball goes down when playing on the terrace, etc.

Guys from other bldgs etc, but once this "captain" actually self abandoned the game due to too many matches being played and his batsmen getting confused. Oh the names they were given after that, they were losing so badly but this is the highlight of bachpan ke rules Our hero was Anand - almost gavaskarish and Mushtag - ur modern afridi, no one fielded near him coz at times his bat could fly too Then there was dewang , gujju guy who was decent batter but after few tight balls, he used to get extremely frustrated and just come outta the crease like mad man and swing his bat high. I was a complete no. 12 player, didnt bat or bowl but spun it few times
Rajiv Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 I am sorry but this is a top thread: There were times when we used to play in seriously cramped places even as grown ups - give us a bat and a ball and we could play practically anywhere and that's a fact god knows that. So ek tappa out and we had people innovating right - going to the pitch of the ball and instead of smothering the turn we were smothering bounce - bat parallel to the ground very dravidesque :haha: AFAIK - maybe a joke but Robin Uthappas straight sixes is due to those cramped places where he could only hit between 2 bldgs
