sscomp32 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Great news. Would love to see this happening. IND SA tests are always interesting.
zen Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Mahatma Gandhi actually has connections with both nations which helps to highlight the historical ties b/w the two countries .... Mandela is a great leader, but, in this context, his name appears to be dragged in .... Simply Mahatma Gandhi Trophy would have served to highlight the historical connections b/w these two countries Please no "Tendulkar-Kallis" etc. trophies .... The "Border-Gavaskar" Trophy name is barely palatable. To many, it would appear as if some of the other great cricketers are left out so it is better to have neutral names or names that can highlight historical connections
Debutant Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Tests :wall: I find most of the test matches boring.
Shivaji bhonsle Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I find India South Africa tests quiet boring tbh. matches in south Africa were really interesting.
Number Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I find India South Africa tests quiet boring tbh. Yes we know that as Rohit hardly lasts for one over against Steyn.:giggle:
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 if anyone saw mandela movie or read about mandela, they would realize that he was more in league of a bhaghat singh, savarkar or a bose. the only realistic parallel to Gandhi is Martin Luther King .jr as far as i know. he was pure and highly idealistic like Gandhi. mandela never followed non-violence. he was put in jail for revolutionary terrorist activities. --- I would rather name it "Continental Drift Trophy" since millions of years ago Indian peninsula (From Aravali ridge and below) was a piece attached to Africa and and dashed towards Asia thus forming young fold mountains at Himalayas.
adi B Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 In the last decade starting from 2004 ,india saf series have been top notch and close ones. 2004,ind won 1-0 home 2006,saf won 2-1 home 2008 ,1-1 draw 2010 1-1 draw 2011 1-1 draw 2013 saf won 1-0 home.shame these were just 2-3 test match series,4 test matches vs saf will be awesome
G_B_ Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 that 1-1 draw was the the best series I have seen. Steyn v Tendulkar is fresh in the memory
sscomp32 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 that 1-1 draw was the the best series I have seen. Steyn v Tendulkar is fresh in the memory The one in SA? Yes that was EPIC. I remember a lot of memories from that series/ :two_thumbs_up:
HippoSucks Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Dravid-Kallis Trophy would be a good name. Both were very reliable and resilient batsman.
Raghav_12 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 No need to bring politicians. I say name it Kallis-Tendulkar Cup, 2 of the greatest players from RSA/Ind respectively and also contemporaries who were locked in epic battles for over 15 years. Also Sachin deserves to have a marquee series named after him. 4 tests every 2 year, AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME. May be Kallis - Dravid Trophy. Tendulakar's persona is too big to be associated with just a bilateral series. The only just use of Tendulkar's name in naming a trophy would be if ICC names ICC cricket world cup as Sachin World Cup. Anything lesser than that would be demeaning for Sachin.
CricketBuffOne Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Regular series is a good idea' date=' they should have named it after cricketers and not freedom fighters. Cricket isn't that important to invoke the names of these greats.[/quote'] Good point, yoda, naming it after cricket legends is more apt. Couple of options could be: Dravid-Kallis Trophy Smith-Ganguly Trophy
BeautifulGame Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Rice - Dev Trophy :hmmm: Rice - Dal would be better :dontknow:
Detonator Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Rice - Dal would be better :dontknow: No Dal.. only sambhar :hitler:
