Insidious Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 "Let me just tell you that there is a lot of difference between a fast bowler and quick bowler. Kapil Dev was a swing bowler but he was not a quick bowler. India's first ever quick bowler that I saw was Javagal Srinath but again he was not in that league of fast men like Yadav, who can hit mid-90's." CricketBuffOne Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Andy is right. If a fast bowler isn't aggressive there's no point in becoming one. You need to have some sort of fear factor in the minds of the batsman when they play you.
mishra Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 They shouldn't be doing that many overs to have any aggression left in them. Poor Shami missed IPL.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 i wish umesh and aaron will leave ODIs and play some county whenever they get time.
BeautifulGame Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 i wish umesh and aaron will leave ODIs and play some county whenever they get time. Sorry how many great fast bowlers have produced for England ? They will become even more trundlers of they play county cricket as well
Ironhide Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Roberts didn't talk about Varun Aaron as he must have not seen him till now, Varun Aaron should get more chances, he is even faster than Umesh Yadav, when we can give 6-7 years for some "talented" batsmen and spinning allrounders to settle in the Indian team the why not give Full 1 year to real fast bowlers who anyways appear only once in 2-3 decades.
G_B_ Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 they need proper rest more than anything. Look at England, anderson and broad not playing the odis in prep for the ashes. I do hope Umesh and Shami skip the BD odis

I do hope Umesh and Shami skip the BD odis Shami has undergone knee surgery and is not in the squad, Umesh Yadav will play in all ODI's as Varun aaron is picked only for test match and with Shami injured Umesh is our only fast bowler left.
moniker Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Sorry how many great fast bowlers have produced for England ? They will become even more trundlers of they play county cricket as well There's a difference between playing mostly in England throughout the year and going on a learning trip to the counties. If you play in the same conditions always you'll tend to be a one trick pony.
BeautifulGame Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 There's a difference between playing mostly in England throughout the year and going on a learning trip to the counties. If you play in the same conditions always you'll tend to be a one trick pony. Early season north India pitches are always as same England What we need is our bowlers to go on regular A tours to Australia South Africa and even England gain experience .Conditions they rarely encounter. Not play in the rotten county set up which is just useless.Just check KP article yesterday on how bad and useless some county pitches are Only good thing in the past with county cricket was professionalism but now with IPL teams they get far higher level of that readily available to even domestic cricketers .
vishalvirsingh Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks Andy for appreciating our Umesh Yadav. I believe Andy should have spoken about Varun Aroon too.. May be he has not watched Varun carefully. from a Talent and Pace stand point Varun is even more talented and even faster. if both these guys are supported by Virat well....watching cricket will become really exciting. seeing both of them bowling together in Tests along with Shammi wud be mouth watering.
vishalvirsingh Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I guess now Umesh Yadav and Varun Aron will be well supported by Virat and EVEN DHONI..... yes fast bowlers can give away runs but they need to be supported else we will always have defensive bowlers who bowl defensively even with a brand new cherry.

LOL Varun Aaron is not there in the ODI squad, Virat got him for the test match squad and Dhoni has gone with Dhawal Kulkarni for the ODI squad.
urnotserious Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Srinath was not fast? I guess Roberts spent the 1990s at the Hard Rock bar.
vishalvirsingh Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Well said. Srinath was 150 +during his best pacy days and more talented than Umesh. Ganguly begged him to extend his career when he wanted to retire early. He was a gem.
Vilander Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Thanks Andy for appreciating our Umesh Yadav. I believe Andy should have spoken about Varun Aroon too.. Thats your specialty..really appreciate it.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 as long as yadav has a messed up radar, his 95mph will be nothing but faster loose deliveries. rather bowl 85mph with swing and length, and be deadly like boult, southee, anderson
MK55 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 ^ Dont think his radar's gonna fix up if he drops from 90mph to 85mph. Rather get into rhythm while bowling at the pace you are comfortable or capable of bowling.
