sensible-indian Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 One ODI loss and its like the goddamn end of the world. Jeez' date=' can the wrist slitters take a deep breath and relax ?[/quote'] Loss is not an issue. But this problem has been there for a while but was hidden cos our top 3 kept doing well. Now Kohli is out of form or whatever you want to call that...and we are struggling. Please see the arguments raised bro. Losing one game is no big deal. But this loss highlights a fundamental problem which is that we depend on 4 batsmen to win us the game while other teams (even Bangladesh) have a better strategy. Now we could thump Bangladesh in the next 2 games but that doesn't mean this strategy is better cos it doesn't cover the bases. Hence comparison with 2011 WC team which too needed depth to win the cup inspite of having superstars in its lineup.
vayuu1 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Time to test the replacement and then declare if they are good or not. No 4, No 6 and No 7 spots are a liability for us. 4,6,7 and 8 to be honest.
Bigg Brother Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 We have been poor in odis after CT2013. Whitewashed by SA,NZ at home, won series against third grade England team,Couldn't chase 300+ against WI and won the series becuase of WI's collapse in one odi,won the series agaisnt unprepared SL,Lost all the match against Eng and Aus in tri series..The only good thing we can take proud of was victory against SA in group match in wc.. There is so much hype about Batting lineup of India becuase of Rohit's two doubles... We are too much dependent on Virat kohli, when he clicks, nobody bother about anybody else. After Rahane's inclusion at No.4,We have been poor in chasing and our collapse' pattern has been same.Openers give some good partenership, then kohli gets out for single digit, then Rahane eats bowl and make the pressure piling up on opener and takes the wicket of him and then gets out on rash shots. And then some little good innigs from lower order after the match is almost over. Not barring Kohli's failure, but Rahane needs to realize his role quickly.Either play him as opener or not.Kohli's appetite for runs looks almost over.Same mistakes again and again and no disappointment at all after getting out. It was pathetic to lose against Bangladesh..Not knee jerk reaction.Need to improve soon otherwise SA will eat alive India at home.
sensible-indian Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 4' date='6,7 and 8 to be honest.[/quote'] True. Ashwin must drop down to No 9 ideally or learn some ODI batting.
G_B_ Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 saw the highlights Rahane has to go. not only is he not scoring runs he is sucking the momentum out of the chase. He plays as opener if at all (which is debatable) or he does not play. Simple as that. Can honestly say BD were better than us and if not for the rain break it would be have been a bigger margin. 55 odis i guess enough to prove your worth. He has about 3-4 good innings in there. Thats not a good ratio. I still think his 79 v SA was one of the best ODI innings I saw, but he has major issues in playing as per the situation. Probably the best test batter for India. But ODIs not his thing. Verdict still out in t20.
Austin 3:!6 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Rohit needs to bat at 4. He clearly struggles against new ball. Rahane should be given a chance as opener with Dhawan.
G_B_ Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 There is also the issue of MSD i think his time might be up....
The Realist Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Dhoni's time was up a while ago. WC was a perfect time to retire but like many previous players he will hang on until he drags the team down to his level. The ODI game has moved on and he cannot adapt at his age. Its going to be a brutal watch if he captains the in the T20 WC next year as he is even worse in that format. He is rapidly becoming India's Alastair Cook.
mishra Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I agree with general suggestions of each of the posts on this thread. To add, Between Raina and Dhawan, One should be dropped- They can play great knocks on similar wicket. Its better to have only one.
cowboysfan Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 We are an average team ,we have hacks like rohit and dhawan opening and terrible bowlers like mohit and umesh.our batting will have trouble compensating for the awful bowling lineup.
div Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 One ODI loss and its like the goddamn end of the world. Jeez' date=' can the wrist slitters take a deep breath and relax ?[/quote'] one ODI :giggle:...This ODI team rarely wins away matches .Atleast beat Banglaboys in Bangladesh.
cowboysfan Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 That hack raina thinks we are a good team when the record says otherwise.weneed a complete overhaul of the team like England.
vamos_rafa Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 All those asking Rahane to go should look at how other players have been persisted with. Agreed he has been very poor but players like Rohit and Jadeja have been given an even longer rope only the purview of talent. Rahane atleast has a credible test record.
tweaker Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 We need urgent changes in the team. This CSK stronghold of Raina Dhoni Jadeja Ashwin,Mohit is taking its toll .I don't know why the selectors are choosing from a certain group.Dinesh Karthik,Rayudu,Ishant Mohit are given lots of chances, but Kedhar Jadhav,Naman Ojha,Parveez Rasool are ignored again & again.
tweaker Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Bangladesh selectors has done what our selectors should have done.Bangladesh gave debut to 19 years old ,M Rahman .I don't know what our selectors gained by selecting Harbhajan instead of youngsters ie Kuldeep,S Gopal.
tweaker Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 We could have at least made 5 changes to our odi side.By changes I don't mean Ishant,Harbhajan,Zaheer,Karthik ,Yuvraj, but Kedhar Jadhav,Rishi Dhawan,Naman Ojha,Parveez Rasool,Manish Pandey
The Realist Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 And having a glorified cheerleader like Shastri with zero credentials as head coach is laughable when you need to rebuild.
Number Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 one ODI :giggle:...This ODI team rarely wins away matches .Atleast beat Banglaboys in Bangladesh. Barring England I don't rememer last time we beat a team in the home of opposition not counting Lankans. That is clearly Dhoni effect. Lets chill process is important. Away games are for practice. Same Xi..
