That's average in India. Usually the spinners do most of the bowling there. And six sixes was in t20 sh!t and giggle, not tests. Was comfortably England's best bowler in the whitewash series in Australia just over 18 months ago, even despite being booed by Australian crowds all the way through. His dad killed Australia with three centuries in 1986/87 series, now he's doing the same with the ball.

bones Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 A career average of 29 playing a lot of matches in England and Aus indicates he's pretty ordinary in the grand scheme of things. But in this era of mediocre fast bowling he's made to look better than he is.

An average of 145 against India in India shouldnt fool us. He when paired with Anderson is absolutely one of the most lethal attack pairs in world cricket. Also a T20 game 6 sixes of 6 balls is useless when you are comparing test cricket credential. Our PK BK and all has done excellent job in limited overs cricket but actually they are actually noway near Broad when it comes to test cricket. How can we forget England has won only three test series against us in last 30 odd years but all three wins came consecutively under Anderson Broad combo.

Or a "not so fair weather bowler", if you will! :winky: Had his ups and downs, most of his ups have been at home, much like any half decent bowler of the last ten years except Steyn. Handy lower order biffer (unfortunately his hundred against Pakistan seems a bit tainted for obvious reason). Bit of a ****. And that's about it. Not much more you can say really
kosingh Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Why are people holding his average against him? A test average of 28.97 is pretty good. Only one Indian bowler has a better bowling average than that- Bedi (28.71).

brendan7 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Rate him much higher than Anderson who relies purely on conditions. Don't get me wrong Jimmy is practically unplayable when it is cloudy and swinging, but give me Broad who runs in all day on any wicket.
swatpulla Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 No, I have had privilege to wtch him few times in stadium. Compared to Indian players or any other player he looked in perfect physique. Watching on tele, I never noticeed that. His physique is probably just around ideal for a pace bowler. Ishant's physique was better than Waqar's. But that does not determine bowler's skills. Broad has been a decent Test bowler at most.
