Precambrian Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 After a very long time, its refreshing to see India back to what it used to do unparalleled, 'spin'ning the opposition to the ground. Good thing is it can't be even said to use 'home advantage', and its truly been masterclass in spin bowling by our two spinners, especially Ashwin, who has chucked nonsensical variation-a-minute for plain old flight and drift, with the variations as shockers effect. Forebodes well for us at the start of a reasonably long 'Home' haul. And am excited.
Gollum Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Very excited to see this version of Ashwin. The way he is running through sides reminds me of peak Murali minus the chucking.
Vijy Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Very excited to see this version of Ashwin. The way he is running through sides reminds me of peak Murali minus the chucking. Peak Murali (regardless of what yo call him - legit or chucker) was the most prolific wicket taking machine ever; let's not be too hasty in comparing Ashwin against him.
Ironhide Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Ashwin is awesome and even Amit Mishra is spinning miles, his googly is deadly, just check out today's second wicket:
tweaker Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 It will be great to watch them in tandem tommorrow
Vijy Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Ashwin is awesome and even Amit Mishra is spinning miles' date=' his googly is deadly, just check out today's second wicket: [url'] Classical leg spin indeed. SL have a weakness against it, or so it appears - they were mighty scared of Yasir Shah as well.
jusarrived Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Ashwin is awesome and even Amit Mishra is spinning miles' date=' his googly is deadly, just check out today's second wicket: [url'] Mishra if he can be consistent can run through linups , but mentally very fragile
gakgupta Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Mishra if he can be consistent can run through linups ' date=' but mentally very fragile[/quote'] One good performance and already he is running thru the line-up's He has improved well and now he has captain;s confidence which is making the difference.. i dont think he will run thru the line-up's but can become very good bowler from here on and serve india for next 3 years
punjabi_khota Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Did you watch 4-0 drubbing Aus got in india 2013 ?
Laaloo Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Did you watch 4-0 drubbing Aus got in india 2013 ? Probably not. The OP is a huge IPL fan. He has no time for test cricket.
BeautifulGame Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Ashwin is nowadays bowling as good as Kumble was in late 90s .Running through sides for fun and a great pleasure to watch .If am right in next 12-18 months years we have Srilanka (2 more tests ) SA (4 tests) England (5 tests) Nzl (3 tests ) WI away (3 tests) Aus (4 tests) All spinning conditions with WI being the only away but similar conditions . If Ashwin continuous this form he could easily pick up 100+ wickets in the next 18 months and 250+ overall Will be well on the way to be ATG . We still a better 3rd spinner as Harbajan has been pretty useless so far .
Texan Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Ashwin is a thinking cricketer. He doesn't just sit on his laurels and expect things to roll. He has improved by leaps and bounds since he was dropped in overseas Tests in favor of Jadeja. I am really glad for Mishraji. He along with Ashwin are our best spinners. Its so refreshing to finally see the best two spinners in India bowl in tandem. Should have happened a long time ago.

He needs to up his pace, add more revs and zip. Right now, he's looking pretty good though.

I said he can & also mentioned hes mentally fragile which makes him inconsistent .
Vijy Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I don't see much of this "spinning feeling" post-lunch... perhaps it will come back with the tea?
