Gollum Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 MSD has copped quite a lot of brickbats because of favoritism. Jadeja, Ishant, Mohit Sharma, Raina, etc are a few names that pop up who benefited under his regime. Now Kohli is captain and he has surpassed even Dhoni as far as selection of the XI is concerned. Dhoni was unbiased in his initial years but VK has started politics right from day 1. Here are his gems in his 4 tests as the man in charge. Adelaide: Karn over Ashwin Sydney: Raina over Pujara :hysterical::hysterical: Fatullah: Bhajji and Maggi in the team, no Pujara Galle: Maggi in place of Pujara, Bhajji as the 3rd spinner Pretty sure he is trying his level best to promote his pals in the test arena. Only 4 tests and these many blunders(or deliberate oversights). Without having tasted a single win and still being new to the job if he can do this much politics imagine if he gets a few wins under his belt. This thread is to monitor his WTF team selections, which I am sure we are going to see every time.
renjith Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Every captain will have a set of players whom he have faith and will back them as well. That is not politics. I guess in kohlis long term plans he wants an attacking player in the mould of ponting at no 3 rathar than some one in the mould of geoffrey boycott/sunil gavaskar. personally I don't like rohit at 3 coz his defense is so poor and not good enough for test cricket. but a captain has the right to pick his eleven.
Bigg Brother Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Even MSD won't bench Pujara for Raina who is his favourite. No one can bench Pujara except Kohli. It's pathetic that he said "we should back our best batsman".Rohit is best?
helperononline Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 he has some grudge with pujara he has been leaving him out of the team quite often if pujara is not included then kohli should bat at no 3 and rohit at no 4 i guess kohli does not want to give no 4 position as it was sachin`s position
sensible-indian Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Kohli has made some bad selections moves but he has been quick to rectify them too. Even his Karn Sharma move was understandable considering the context (not saying it was right) but if it clicked, he would have been hailed. Ashwin (a finger spinner) struggled in Aussie tracks and Kohli went for the win with a wrist spinner (which is consistent with his beliefs). It didn't click but the fight we put up in Adelaide was mindblowing to say the least. To go for beating a 100 year old record. Pure guts. Even in field, he makes mistakes but he is ready and willing to change. I think he will settle down and his selections will have more consistency now that he knows the aukaat of all players. Yes, Rohit love is a issue with him. No defense for that. But what to do? Rohit's 2 100s against WI was ALWAYS going to screw us one day or the other. Ticking time bomb. If Kohli drops Rohit the next test, I won't be too worried about his immediate captaincy.
sensible-indian Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 If he dropped Pujara due to grudge (don't think so) then that would be pathetic. I would be speechless. But don't think it happens like that. Even the Raina move can be explained from his point of view (not saying its right but speaking from his point of view). Aussie pitches were total pattas. Pujara was playing too slowly and getting out without carrying on (way too many times) which was hurting us. Raina V2.0 (clutch) and fooled people into thinking he was a Test bat and Kohli fell into the trap too and gave him the easiest track to score. Raina scored a pair and won't play for India in tests again.

Pujara had just played a decent knock in Melbourne at no.6 saving the test match .Not sure how trying to save a test match by consuming balls be considered playing slowly and reason for the drop.Or how was that hurting us .Surely Kohli wasn't that daft to drop a player for playing slowly when he actually was trying to saving a test match Also remember Pujara also had a very good 70odd in the first test so he exactly wasn't in that bad form to be dropped .That too for Suresh Raina

Melbourne was another case where Pujara got in, played out a lot of balls and got out. Eventually it had to come to lower order to prevent losing the game. You do expect your batsmen who haven't scored to do something in a match. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2014-15/engine/current/match/754741.html Anyways, as a Pujara fan, I never supported that decision but I can see where he came from.
Bigg Brother Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Why no one question Ishant Sharma's selection. Its pathetic that he is spearhead of our bowling unit who shamelessly bowls no balls even after being so experienced.
sensible-indian Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Why no one question Ishant Sharma's selection. Its pathetic that he is spearhead of our bowling unit who shamelessly bowls no balls even after being so experienced. Cos he is our most reliable pacer at the end of the day.
Adi_91 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Looks like this idiot will select NOHIT again FML He said we need to back out of form players not drop FML FML Yeah. cos Nohit is a very 'talented' batsman and 'Stylish'. :cantstop:

Kohli has been pretty adaptive in learning from his mistakes.
jusarrived Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 This guy is new Jaddu of Test Team. What's the point of Talent which is no use. I hated this guy when he scored 264 because i know he will fail 10 matches after that. This kid is one of those. Scores once in 10 innings then secures his place for next time. I rather have a guy who scores 50 or even 35+ for few matches FML Lets make it 6 series without a Win. :cheer: ENG AUS, NZ SA, BD - RAIN SAKE SL - NO HOPE WITH GAY SELECTION Jadeja was a far superior player than Rohit . He has 6fer in SA and there are times he out bowled Ashwin in the first few matches . There was a proper reasoning.behind him being picked unlike Rohit who has no clear role in the team and hurting others careers .
Pagalpanti Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 ++ Apart from Nohit I don't see any other move that has not been discarded if it didn't work. Kohli has been pretty adaptive in learning from his mistakes. 5 bowler is something we don't require in SC. Pitches in SL and India have been result oriented. Its pointless showmanship of Bravado to maintain the "aggressive captain" tag to play 5 bowlers here. Pujara at 3, Rohit at 6 next test and drop Bhajji - imo this would be an ideal side for next test. In Bangladesh and SL 1st test, we ended up around 400 despite having a solid base to go onto score 500-550. IMO we lost our game right there. After Kohli-Dhawan partnership, least India should've got was around 450-500.
Gollum Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Just logged in to check the score. Vijay not getting a hit in the practice match must have gone against him here. Gosh how many LBWs will the umps give against us. We hardly seem to get any LBWs with the ball. No Pujara still? Kohli seems to have some personal vendetta against the Saurashtrian. Rahane at no 3 is fine by me, he is much better against the quicks than against spin. Binny in for Bhajji is a good move. Rohit Sharma is a dumb**** selection. I would also have loved to see Bhuvi in place of Umesh, this pitch is perfect for his kind of bowling.

jf1gp_1 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Ashwin could be a much better cap than cheeku. every arnab gowswami appears a better captain to Indian cricket fans over whomever is leading the team
veer Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Seems like Virat has strong Dislike for Pujara huh He is class batsmen anyday over NOHIT Can't deny that Pujara has been a BIG disappointment..
Vijy Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Can't deny that Pujara has been a BIG disappointment.. He has indeed. Apart from that SA tour of course.
