I think he is trying to settle in. It's not a bad ploy for him. I hope it works for Indian team and him in the coming games. Good news for him is that NZ attack is good but not like South African attack who are more dangerous at home. This is a big series with 5 matches and then 2 test. Surely he might find form here.

His game won't work outside SC, his technique is too loose, his temperament is suspect. Whatever little he has achieved in cricket is just because he has been given more chances than anybody in the team except maybe Ishant.

Unless, there is some success outside the subcontinent .... the risk of carrying a dud in the team based in strong within-India performances remain. The biggest thing I am afraid of these days, as far as cricket goes, is an untested or proven failure ( outside the subcontinent ) batsmen or spinner doing wonderfully well in India. P.s - It is the same thing for pacers and batsmen of other countries ( outside the subcontinent ) who have not performed in the subcontinent .
