Number
Some of you just dont get it .On the contrary its the likes of Rohit we need to hide , play them in slots where there is no pressure . its these guys whos place in the side should be questioned regularly .I reckon you were his fan once. Now when he has started doing well, you turned anti. rkt.india
Some of you just dont get it .Batting @5 and @6 is bloody difficult . you cant question their place in the team based on few failures . Irrespective of their form our three best ODI bats are Virat , Dhoni and Raina . Guys who can actually play down the order . Send any of these guys up the order , they will score hundreds for you and statistically look good , if thats what we need . On the contrary its the likes of Rohit we need to hide , play them in slots where there is no pressure . its these guys whos place in the side should be questioned regularly .Raina had batted at 3 once, didnt set the stage on fire. Raina can only bat at 5-6, not above than that and he is good at what he does at that number. He isnt a top order batsman. Also, every batsman has his strengths and weaknesses. If you ask Kohli to bat at 6, he wont be able to do that successfully. SRT too wasn't really successful in the middle order. Edited October 17, 2015 by rkt.india Link to comment
MK55
Still would want to keep him as obviously we don't have batters with strike rates comparable to other top teams. But its embarrassing how he continues to struggle against the short ball even in these conditions. Link to comment
jusarrived
So slogging is more difficult than facing the new ball against fully rested fast bowlers? Do you rate Maxwell higher than Kohli in that case? Batting in the top 4 is the most difficult irrespective of the format. Blind slogging not , thats why I said Rohit can bat at 7 . The new ball has no effect in ODIs , even if it does its not more than 2-3 overs especially in India ( Rohit does not have the technique to play swing ), but in the bargain you get to play 15 overs of Power play , time to be settle where you can play at any pace and get those big hundreds and inflate your stats . its ridiculously easy to keep your SR up with the Power plays which never puts your innings under pressure . its not a conicidence that Rohit who was dud down the order looks like Bradman , Rahane who struggles down the order looks pretty good @3 & Virat will have a more difficult time @4 than he had @3 . Playing in Top4 in Tests is not the same as in ODIs , else Rohit would have done the same successful in Tests as well ? Amla would not drop him self down in Tests ? Tendulkar would open both in Tests and ODIs ? Link to comment

I was a big fan of his talent , but beyond that there are other aspects like Technique , temperament which the guy lacks apart from his extremely poor attitude which I cannot stand Link to comment

Tendulkar had the game to play anywhere , it wasnt that he was not sucessful but rather he liked the easier role of opening . Link to comment
jusarrived
Todays Match , Miller opening ahead of Amla . if this experiment continues for even 10 more matches I would love to see Amla maintain his average and SR close to 100 . Link to comment

Virat and SRT may not be as sucussful as Dhoni or Raina , but they well do very well anywhere you bat them , both have a versatile game . Lord 1 Link to comment

Number
Can't really blame him. The game was lost in between 30-40 over unnecessary strike hogging by both Dhoni and Virat. Gollum 1 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Not the right time to toss him out. He is the only guy who can score quickly in the back end. He deserves a bit ore rope as he can bowl a few overs and he is a gun fielder. India's shocking dearth of late order hitting would not allow us to take that chance. Link to comment

someone
He came into a pressure situation and tried to do his work from Ball 1. Not his fault for being put under so much pressure each time he comes out to bat. Link to comment
rkt.india
On most other India grounds, that shot of his was a six, but these boundaries were big in Rajkot. I always say Raina isn't a very big hitter, he just hits them enough on small grounds but is caught pants down when boundaries are big. He came into a pressure situation and tried to do his work from Ball 1. Not his fault for being put under so much pressure each time he comes out to bat.Kohli was there on the other hand. He should have rotated the strike. Kohli could have taken Tahir on at that time, Link to comment

We are hoping Rahane and Rayudu will start hitting which is not going to happen. Link to comment
