Adi_91 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Our bowlers are brainless. Cant captain responsible for everything. It is not rocket science to know what to bowl at death. He got finch with a beauty but he couldn't put another ball in that area to Smith. He barely bowled that 6 meter. I have officially understood to not believe our bowling can win matches in any conditions. If Ishant is still not good enough after 8 years of playing international cricket, it tells a story.
asterix Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Our bowler don't use brain... Or are brainless... Agree.. Who's the bowling coach? Does coaching has any effect over these brainless souls? doccricket 1
express bowling Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) To be fair to Dhoni, he chose Umesh in all the ODIs so far. Chose Ishant in the 2 ODis when he was fit. Dropped Bhuvi in the process. These are the only 2 fast bowlers we have in this squad.( Aaron is not there and Shami is injured. )He handled Umesh badly ...gave him short spells as usual... did not open the bowling with him in the first 2 ODIs...BUTUmesh did not justify his selection too.He bowled crap...we have to accept that if we want to be honest. He did not bowl yorkers at the death. Bowled down the leg too often. An international pacer with more than 4 years experience can't do this in every match. We need better bowlers and a better captain. renjith Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Only option is to try as much performers from domestic cricket till we find some quality bowlers. Anyways we are losing. Can't keep recycling these same crap bowlers who can't even do basic things right after years of experience.
express bowling Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I did Write he bowled crap n he has been inconsistent ......how is that a suppourtIm just talking about perspective of handling a bowler. Which even dean jones was also talking aboutN under same captain, well that same won matches due those wkts also. Those things go hand in hand I feel that .....especially because we have very ordinary fast bowlers....we need a captain who can bring out the best in them.If we had an Akram and a Steyn...Dhoni would have been a superb captain. Because we have sub-standard pacers in Umesh, Aaron, Bhuvi and Ishant ...we need a captain like Kohli who can bring out the best from very average pacers. We can't really blame Dhoni on this issue....but look up to Kohli for results. fineleg Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 How did Rishi Dhawan bowl today? (trundler pace, but accurate? or cannon fodder?)
MK55 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Wouldn't call our bowlers brainless but definitely was a substandard performance and this has been happening for a while now.Ishant bowled fine but he's not someone who can be trusted in the death overs. Umesh has this tendency to keep switching on and off. Its a habit and he needs to overcome it if he wants to do well in ODIs. Our bowlers just don't have the confidence to bowl yorkers which makes you question the preparation. Someone should tell these bowlers that they are good enough to try bowling those yorkers. Also, I don't think someone like Umesh can bowl well under MS. Not blaming MS here but that is what it is atm.I personally feel, we should try a bowling coach who has done this at the international level himself in the recent past and is a bit authoritative. Someone whom the bowlers will look up to. The pre-match preparation seems to be lacking big time. The bowlers may have got complacent in the routines but I don't know. Whatever it is, its not working.

Even talking about the absence of shami n aaron . They were there in Nz n Sa n story was same. Captain has to bring the best out of them . Rather than declaring their case hopeless n saying in every post match that we cant defend 300 so we need 30 runs more. Also, he is the one who can ask for variety in attack from selectors. I mean he cud have asked for bumrah wen shami got injured. Now he doesnt even have option if he wants to try new combinationAlso wat a captain needs selectors to ask give right kind of bowler India A games. Why does Arvind, kalaria, dhawal ,mithun keep playing in India A Games. So were are we giving exp to our domestic bowler n creating bench strength. express bowling and Mosher 2
renjith Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Rishi Dhawan was one of the leading wicket takers in Ranji in one of the last two years....Did you like him in this match ?For me Rishi dhawan is a bits and pieces player and does not look intl material. But he has done more than enough at domestic level to earn a chance to showcase whatever skills he has at intl level. Who knows if he can pullout a robin singh. What I meant is the likes of aniket choudhary, ankit rajput, nathu Singh, Sarn (already selected), shardul, deepak chahar, siva kumar. I mean we should try out almost everyone who shows some promise. For a country as big as india and with as much domestic teams as we have we give chance to the minimum number of new players compared to other countries.

Varied his pace and made scoring slightly difficult for some time.
MK55 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Selectors should also show some common sense while selecting players at the international level. Cant just blindly pick a bowler with the best average/strike rate/cumulative wickets in the international team. We don't have pitches and a competitive structure that is indicative of the chances of success at the international level. Off course good records help but should never be the sole basis for selection. Also, are the wickets in domestic cricket good enough to produce quality fast bowlers? Sran is left arm and tall in comparison to our other pacers but don't think he's ready yet for internationals. He isn't consistent nor does he have any extra pace/pounce. I'll rather invest in bowlers who have got some spark even if requires persisting with them a bit longer than some other countries like SA/AUS would.

In fact Sran looked tired and I felt he did not bowl with any venom as his pace was down. As a youngster playing for the national side in your first series, that's not good enough. I fear that he is gone forever now.
express bowling Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 bumrah as well who should have been playing in this series.Agree totally.

Varied his pace and made scoring slightly difficult for some time.Rishi performed his job and bowled well and within his limitations....we can't blame him but....it also speaks volumes about our domestic cricket....a 115 to 125 k pacer should not be our leading wicket taker in one of our FC seasons. beautifulgame Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Our bowler don't use brain... Or are brainless... Agree.. Who's the bowling coach? nevada Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 How about lashing the curator and the bosses who ordered these kind of pitches to be made? This series and even the world cup itself was a mega boring event. Gone are the days when runs had to be earned by batsmen working hard for them on Aussie pitches. The current pitches are a mockery and even the premier bowlers would struggle on these.
sandeep Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 ODI pitches are flat everywhere, and Oz is notorious for it. Not going to change anytime soon. express bowling 1
