G_B_ Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Bhuvi makes no sense at all. The decks are spinning. Bhajji makes way more sense than Bhuvi. India are well cover in the pace department. express bowling and New guy 2
Ultimate_Game Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Is he thinking of bowling Bhuvi in pp's and using all 3-4 of Bumrah in death ?We would be too light in batting. We need a proper no. 4 batsman. Can't rely on Kohli and to a lesser extent on Dhoni to do all the work.
Adi_91 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Is he thinking of bowling Bhuvi in pp's and using all 3-4 of Bumrah in death ?Better to do that. I was surprised that Bumrah bowled 2 overs in the PP. It is now clear that his ideal position is in the back end of the innings. Rasgulla 1
Ultimate_Game Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 He can do bravo of CSK in IPL // He is doing well at this point.. yeh like we are not having light batting at this point.. 4 hacks with Kohli and DhoniKam se kam umeed to kar sakte hain batsman se. If we replace a batsman with another bowler, we will end up with just 5 batsmen in the team, which IMO is not the way to go. Better option is to replace Yuvi, since he's injured, and get another batsman (preferably Pandey) in the squad.
Adi_91 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Ashwin failed today so he has no choice Bumrah had to bowl 2.. Look up after post match he talks about itOh. Makes sense now. What were Bumrah's final bowling figures like?

Ultimate_Game Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Yuvi should be fine. Otherwise, open with Rahane and drop Rohit down to #5. Or play Negi (can't see Dhoni taking a chance in the SFs). That's actually not a bad idea. Rahane's best spot is as an opener and Rohit plays at no. 4 in IPL and used to play in the middle order earlier. This would also get another good fielder in the team and push Raina down the order, which should suit him more. So yeah I would have the following team if Yuvi is not fit and Pandey is not brought in...RahaneDhawanKohliRohitRainaDhoniPandyaJadejaAshwinNehraBumrahAnd I would give Raina and Pandya 2 overs each as the 5th bowler rather than allow Pandya to bowl 3-4 overs as he gets hit in his later overs. It is a terrible move to bring him down to #4. If he underperforms for a long time (which he hasn't) or is injured, then he should be replaced by Rahane. Otherwise, Rahane has no place in India's LOI teams.Â

Instead of playing Rahane at 4 or 5, where Rahane is a misfit, I would maximize the players I have at my disposal. That means Rahane opens with Rohit at 4. Sometimes you have to adjust due to injuries and Yuvi injury may force us to do so.
asterix Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Even if UV is injured, he'll play... He'll hobble around, denying Kohli runs, creating pressure...THE UNCHANGED XI will play...
Ultimate_Game Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Even if UV is injured, he'll play... He'll hobble around, denying Kohli runs, creating pressure... THE UNCHANGED XI will play...In T20 there's no place for an unfit player. You give away easy runs in field and then you give away easy runs at the crease. And it's not as if Yuvraj is a Gayle where he can stand and smack bowlers all over the park for 4s and 6s.
Adi_91 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Even if UV is injured, he'll play... He'll hobble around, denying Kohli runs, creating pressure... THE UNCHANGED XI will play...A tad unfair to Yuvi. Yesterday, yes he was injured, but at least he was trying his best to pick singles and hit the odd boundaries. It was definitely not Yuvi of 2014 World Twenty20. I think we need to be a bit objective here and give credit for his contribution yesterday. At least he was striking better than our openers and lent support to Kohli after Raina.

Nobody is saying Yuvraj isn't giving off his best. I'm sure he tried his best in WT2014 final as well but the sad reality is that his best is simply not good enough. He isn't the same Yuvi anymore and there's no shame in that. He has been playing since 2000 and this is 2016. 16 years is a long time in professional sports and everyone's time comes to call it a day. IMO Yuvraj has reached that point. We have likes of Manish Pandey or Kedar Jadhav who are waiting in the wings and it's time they get chances. Somebody like Manish Pandey would be an ideal replacement - the guy can bat at 4, run quickly between the wkts and outstanding in the field. It's time where we raise our expectations from a specialist batsman to not only support Kohli but to actually contribute as a specialist batsman. I know Rohit and Dhawan are in the same boat but at least Rohit and Dhawan have done it in the recent past. Rohit was scoring till about the start of WT20 while Dhawan has showed up in CT2013, WC2015 and Asia Cup final. I don't recall when Yuvraj last showed up as a primary contributor with the bat. All he has done after the 2011 WC is support Kohli in a couple of low scoring games and he hasn't been that good in the field either. It's high time we move on from Yuvraj.
BeautifulGame Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Rahane has a good record in Wankhede and his home ground as well. He played an awesome knock against SA there as well. So perhaps Rahane for Dhawan one option if Yuvi is fit? The problem is hawan has such an incredible record in K-O games he could easily click in the Semi or Final. If Yuvi is not fit think we will go with Negi as replacement .Moreso when u consider WI have no left hand bar after Gayle.

I would sit Yuvraj, let Rahane open with Dhawan and push Rohit down to 4 - a role Rohit plays for MI in IPL at the same ground. This will also help us push Raina to 5, which is a much better position for Raina IMO than 4.

Cricket_Hacker Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Pandya needs to open with Rohit or Dhawan, both openers cannot do tuk tuk and waste powerplay every single time tweaker 1
