i can see a lot of sachin devotees here trying to defend their God. Its very pathetic that a guy who was given a bharat ratna can stoop to lobbying with a cabinet minister about an illegal construction, however legal it is, it is still low for Sachin. And MR. Parrikhar can not be blamed its not that Sachin would have told him prior to meeting what the agenda would be, and even if he did you dont expect Mr. Parrikhar to snub Sachin without a meeting,  protocol and basic decency to an a former parliament member/Icon like Sachin demands it.

Rajiv Gandhi-Scams,Sikh Riots etc etc, Pandit Ravi Shankar- Affair with another woman and bearing an illegitimate child....should we revoke their Bharat Ratnas too?

What does stoop to lobbying mean? Lobbying is a democratic right. I bill my corporate clients 300 USD an hour to represent them before parliamentary committies. Am I stooping low? Saying it is 'low' ad nauseum doesn't make it so.

First you need to chill, second you need to stop comparing yourself with Sachin in a cricket forum.

And no its not ok for a Rajiya sabha member in India to lobby for an illegal construction of a friend with a cabinet minister. I dont know who you are and i dont care if you are stooping low or being exemplary or not while you bill 300$ for lobbying, nada zilch i care. You hardly compare with some one like Sachin, he is somebody in India, you are nobody in a forum.

Did not know we are talking about bharat ratnas or revoking them.

Again, help me understand

1) According to whom is it "not ok for a RS member to lobby with a minister"? Remember, your nerdy definition of morality doesn't count ;-)

2) Could you tell me about the facts of the case that has led you to pronounce the construction is illegal?

1, Rajiya Sabha MP is not a lobbyist, his protocol is not for lobbying its for public service.

2, The news paper article states the construction is illegal. Its in the pic in the first post so at face value.

Firstly Bharat Ratna is not given because you are an ideal citizen,it is given because of your  accomplishments in a particular field -to such an extent that you  become a symbol for the country in that field...like Sachin is to sports or Lata Mangeshkar,Ravi Shankar are to music.

So don't get it why he can't cater to his personal stuff if he is a Baharata Ratna?

What he did is right or wrong from a perspective of the so called "greater good" that everyone seems to be suddenly care about is debate for another day...I am more concerned about the character assassination that has been going on of Sachin due to this incident where he is just taking care of personal business

If there is a construction next to a sensitive DRDO facility in a no construction zone, it will be dealt with as it should be. Parrikhar is not someones chamcha to let this slide, and have building complexes in place of open play area next to a sensitive facility its a matter of national security. We can keyboard war our arses of here, but its not going to change anything, the current defence ministry is different.

Look nerd, quit your laughable moral posturing and understand. People will not stop looking after their interest because they are RS member or conferred with Bharat Ratna.

There is nothing that stops or even cautions RS members or BR awardee from lobbying. Lobbying = citizen's democratic right. Can you comprehend that?

RS MP can not lobby for legalizing an illegal construction next to a DRDO compound. If he does, it will have no impact like what happened here.

hey maniac before you proceed, you see i contest the first assumption, I never had an opinion about Bharat Ratna or it being removed.

But the problem is he is trying to legalise an alledged illegal construction next to a DRDO facility, you dont want your countries future defence tech to be compromised do you. Its a question of clear greater good, if you have a bharat ratna Rajaya sabha MP setting out to legalize something like this then you have a pretty nepotistic and corrupt society.

Once again, cluelessly repeating what a RS member and Bharat Ratna awardee can or cannot do will not make it true. You seem to petulant to accept it :)

Parrikar refusing to indulge Tendulkar's demand, which incidentally I am glad about, is separate from Goddy exercising his democratic right. Have a good day!

we agree on something. goood.

It says matter involving illegal construction...don't see more details...it could be blocked due to various conflicts and agendas under that name ...again this is an assumption as I am not able to open that link at work.

Not like the land was allotted to laborers or slum dwellers from what I can presume because I can imagine the backlash would be 10 times worse.

Anyways I have no issues in calling spade a spade and saying that SRT should have distanced himself from this but personal character assassination calling him a small and petty man is uncalled for.....who doesn't look out for friends and family?

This honestly doesn't look good if it blows up as a scam imo.

The land belongs to DRDO ...it is govt land and hence national property .

Not catering to personal stuff by influencing a public servant  and not personal stuff that over rides public interest...which it is in this case. This will be called out as corruption ,nepotism and conflict of interest.

Cannot use his influence while being a RS member to promote personal interest .

Lobbying for personal interest or interest of friends or family is corruption and nepotism.

In the complaint to CBI, the DRDO official has said several "illegal" guesthouses and hotels have come up in the cantonment area that has led to "encroachment of DRDO roads", "destruction of green cover of the hills" and a "security threat to the lab".

"There is a sense of systematic and deep-rooted corruption in the Cantonment to allow multibillion investments by big players in hospitality industry with covert protection for flourishing their business," reads the complaint.

It blames establishments such as Tabour Cottage, Pine Tree Lodge and Landour Bakery as establishments flouting cantonment laws. "Majority of these guesthouses are owned by Mr Sanjay Narang, surprisingly all these within a span of 4-5 years.

Mr Sanjay Narang also constructed a big mansion (Dahlia Bank) behind ITM (Institute of Technical Management) violating Works of Defence Act," the complaint sent to CBI reads. "There is a serious fraud and corruption happening here, I wonder it ma ..
