Pat Cummins averaged 40 when he was picked to play for Australia despite Australia having a wealth of fast bowlers with averages below 30. That is why we have selectors and not number crunchers picking teams. Mosher, tweaker and express bowling 3

Nathu has impressed everyone from Dravid, Gambhir, Sandeep Patil and whoever has seen him bowl. If we only go by stats then we will pack the team with trundlers who will be taken apart at the international level. express bowling and tweaker 2

Am I missing something? Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk Stats have very little meaning when a player has played only a handful of matches. We are forgetting the purpose of A tours ( developing players who have the potential to represent their countries ). Lots of top Indian players have been impressed by Nathu because he has the ability to get sharp bounce from just short of length and that delivery comes in very handy at international level. He has pace too, can swing the ball and has a good yorker. We need to get him ready for international cricket. It is always possible that Nathu will not realize his potential and will becoming nothing. But that can happen with any young cricketer. We have seen big talent like Kambli, Sivaramakrishnan , Munaf etc, fade away. But we need to develop the " right kinds of cricketers ". Dibbly-dobbly seamers like Joginder Sharma, Rishi Dhawan, Vinay Kumar have some of the best FC averages. Just imagine what would happen if our seam attack consisted of this trio. West Indians generally reach peak pace at an earlier age compared to Indians...so, Nathu's pace is right up there for his age and he should gain pace if he stays fit. Most pacers seem to register 3 k to 4 k slower speeds under domestic speed guns. So.... Edited August 11, 2016 by express bowling tweaker, Bleed-Blue, Rightarmfast and 1 other 4
express bowling Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Here is a Youtube video of Nathu bowling. He is the taller bowler who bowls 3 batsmen by bowling inswingers. The shorter, slower pacer who bowls a couple of deliveries in the middle of the video is Dhawal Kulkarni. Don't mistake him for Nathu as the video is a bit unclear. express bowling Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Ankit Rajpoot bowling in FC ( from Youtube ) Edited August 11, 2016 by express bowling
express bowling Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Rajpoot was bowling 137 k to 147 k in this year's IPL. Getting swing and bounce as he is quite tall. In FC , he was bowling 130 k to 139 k when he was carrying an injury and had to leave the match mid-way. There too, he was getting swing and bounce. He averages 25 in FC and and has got 25 wickets from 5 matches in the last season's Ranji ( so he is a domestic performer too ). He has trained under McGrath in MRF Pace Foundation and , according to McGrath, Ankit Rajpoot, Nathu Singh and Aswin Christ are the 3 fast bowlers who have the potential to play for India ( among those who have trained under him ) Rajpoot may or maynot do well in international cricket...no-one can really say....but he is the type of bowler who should be groomed. G_B_ Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) how about we just let him be a kid and finish playing 2 full ranji seasons. He will still be 22 which is young and from that point A tours can be considered. A lot of posters IMO are just too enthusiastic about finding the next big thing. For all this talk about trundlers, yesterday i saw Bhuvi touching 135 on a regular basis. So i am sure with proper guidance maybe a 130 trundler can become a 135-140 bowler. How does playing for the A team for a few days stop a player from playing FC cricket and Ranji Trophy ? A tours are for player development too. No one is asking for them to be included in Team India. Also, Ankit Rajpoot has played more than 2 seasons of FC. Edited August 11, 2016 by express bowling sandeep 1
G_B_ Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Rajpoot IMO fair enough. By all means let him be part of A tours. But not nathu just yet. At that age ur still finding yourself. If u bowl in alien conditions it might alter the way you think etc. Ultimately a pacers will mostly play majority of his games at home. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
