Texan Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 What changes would you make (if any)? I would get Pant in place of Saha and Kuldeep for Jayant. Nothing much wrong with what Jayant did with his ability, but Kuldeep could be a better fit. Bhuvneshwar for Ishant. Drop Gambhir (if replacement is needed, pick Mukund). MCcricket 1
rkt.india Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Kuldeep averages 32 FC with an high ER of 3.80. How he is better than Jayant who averages 29 despite bowling a lot on grassy track of Lahli. Other than that, Jayant is playing as a 5th bowler, not just because of his bowling but batting. We need a compact batsman at 7 after Ashwin. Saha does produce good knocks but is inconsistent and Jaddu is very much a tailender. If you include Kuldeep, we will have to include Pandya replacing Umesh to strengthen the batting. Edited November 21, 2016 by rkt.india Cricketics 1
Texan Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 That average has been on a downward trend of late and Kuldeep can bat too. He also brings a different variety to the table since we already have an offspinner in Ashwin.
Cricketics Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Why drop Jayant who has played extremely well, and that too in his first test. This will be a seriously bad decision to drop someone who had a outstanding start to his career. tweaker, Sidhoni and SecondSlip 3

I have seen him bat and he isnt better than Jaddu.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 People forget that Kuldeep didnot get to play regularly because Piyush Chawla was captain of UP and deliberately kept him out. And some people here will say Kuldeep didnt do well in a match even if he picks 7-8 wickets.Kuldeep gives the option of a wrist spinner that we lack now.Plus his Chinaman means he will be taking the bowl away from Lefties and his googlies will come in.England have 7 lefties. Also Bhuvi needs couple of more matches to be fit SUMO 1

Jaddu does not turn the ball enough if it is not a turner .
CoverDrive Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Question that would be asked is if we need two offspinners with Buttler replacing Duckett. But there are still Cook, Ali, Stokes, Broad and Anderson as left handed batsmen. So with his good batting and fielding performance Yadav will stay Bhuvi should get a spot really for his performances - he has done very well for all the chances he has got. He strengthens the batting also
Lannister Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Out - Gambhir, Mishra, Pandya In - BB Kumar Rotate all players for the next 3 matches.

I wonder how Gopal is developing (or regressing) - took a 5-fer after a long time I think.
