Thank you England for giving more south african born players a chance to represent your team .

as a cricket team is only allowed to have 11 players and when SA plays there is 11 players and then some.. . with England we get a chance to see more then 11  south africans' playing international cricket

I wish BCCI/India aid in giving citizenship (and money/support) and get a top fast bowler or two into Indian squad lol.

Their ODI skipper played international cricket for Ireland, and refuses to stand for the England anthem.  Englund have no shame in poaching players - whether its from Zimbabwe, Barbados, Ireland, South Africa, Aus or NZ.   Problem for them is that grass-roots popularity of cricket as a sport has atrophied quite a bit.  And compared to the other "commonwealth" countries, cricketers can make orders of magnitude more money playing in England.  I'm actually surprised that the countries affected by this haven't made this a bigger issue.

Ireland did make fuss about it but was too small to bother ECB. English by nature are master of exploitation as we Indians know they will go any lengths to get talented cricketers in their team.

^ Not sure why we're on this tangent.  Bottomline line is that Morgan is Irish and after playing with Ireland for years, he left his team reportedly hoping to get a chance in Test Cricket.  Now that he knows he is not going to get it, he's still playing for England.  There were a couple of other top Irish players who followed in his wake as well.  I don't blame the players as much - Man's got a right to pursue best opportunities.  But ICC should be a bit more stringent on such mercenaries, especially those like Morgan who switched late in their careers.

I get where you are coming from....Where do you draw the line? As you yourself have said a player has the right to earn his living whichever way he wants..what is the difference if KP switched to England in his teens or Morgan in his 20's.....they have had a successful run as individual players for England.

 

I can't remember the bowler's name but he went from Ireland-England to back to Ireland.....Yes maybe ICC can look into that but even there where do you draw the line....Wessels played in South Africa then played for Australia during apartheid and back to South Africa-had a legit reason but that is too much energy and effort for ICC to start making law points for every thing.

Apart from poaching from Ireland, It's actually good for the game- world cricket needs a strong England

Prinzo,  why are so many saffers going the Pom route?  Is the money disparity that big at the FC level?  What is the compensation like for the players who do make it to the proteas?  

 

Its the easy out to blame the 'integration' policies, this exodus has been going since before that has really come into play.
