Sanga scored heavily at home even as a keeper, but Dhoni also has an outstanding record in India (over much larger sample size as keeper + batsman).
Vilander Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Only tests WK - Dhoni=Gilly>Flower>Bmac>Sanga. Batting - Sanga>Gilly>Flower>Bmac>Dhoni Its Gilly>Flower>Dhoni=Sanga>Bmac In ODI WK Gilly = Dhoni = Sanga > Flower > Bmac Batting - Dhoni>Sanga>Gilly>Bmac >Flower Its Dhoni>Sanga>Gilly>Bmac=Flower. But Sanga kept in too few tests so not sure if he would have continued as a good keeper. Amazingly Bmac is not that good, but for his super-fast daddy hundreds. Overall in Tests + ODI as a WK batsman. Gilly>Dhoni>Sanga>Flower>Bmac
Vilander Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Funny how its as expected and amazingly Sanga has a good ODI keeping record because of Murali and Flower was a very good Test bat too bad he did not play more.

Outside Asia...Dhoni was not that good and Sanga can do the WK's job. Edited December 9, 2016 by express bowling
Vijy Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Just now, express bowling said: No...I will play Sangakkara as a pure batsman in Asia......as Dhoni is a superb keeper against vicious spinning deliveries. That, and the fact that he averages around 47-48 in India also helps.

A world class bat. Averaging 50 was not so easy as in later times. One of the great underrated players - in one match against SA, he single-handedly carried the batting. sandeep and express bowling 2
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 In test - gilly has to be there, if not him ill have andy flower In Odi- Dhoni has to be there for as he gives me so many options like captaincy, finisher. Ill play gilly n dhoni both
mancalledsting Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 As pure batsmen: sangakarra maccullum dhoni as a wicket keeper maccullum dhoni sangakarra But to be fair, dhoni never got the chance to play as pure batsmen (if I'm not mistaken other two's batting greatly improved on dropping gloves and moving up the order). I feel dhoni never fulfilled his true batting potential (due to being overworked- his own fault though as he just couldn't bare to share power in order to protect his financial interests)

We went through a bad few years with touring south-paw batsmen - him, Hadyen, Chanderpaul just kept getting stuck in... mancalledsting 1

At around the same time, Gilly, Punter, etc. were failing too. sandeep 1
