Sangakkara not in SC  not laughing at you but you are going to exclude one of the greatest HTB's of all time in SC

I think that "express bowling" was only comparing their records when they both kept. Sanga scored heavily at home even as a keeper, but Dhoni also has an outstanding record in India (over much larger sample size as keeper + batsman).

Only tests

WK - Dhoni=Gilly>Flower>Bmac>Sanga.

Batting - Sanga>Gilly>Flower>Bmac>Dhoni

Its Gilly>Flower>Dhoni=Sanga>Bmac

In ODI

WK Gilly = Dhoni = Sanga > Flower > Bmac

Batting - Dhoni>Sanga>Gilly>Bmac >Flower

Its  Dhoni>Sanga>Gilly>Bmac=Flower.

But Sanga kept in too few tests so not sure if he would have continued as a good keeper.

Amazingly Bmac is not that good, but for his super-fast daddy hundreds.

Overall in Tests + ODI as a WK batsman.

Gilly>Dhoni>Sanga>Flower>Bmac

No...I will play Sangakkara as a pure batsman in Asia......as  Dhoni is a superb keeper against  vicious spinning deliveries and a good batsman for a keeper.

Outside Asia...Dhoni was not that good and Sanga can do the WK's job.

That, and the fact that he averages around 47-48 in India also helps.

Funny how its as expected and amazingly Sanga has a good ODI keeping record because of Murali and Flower was a very good Test bat too bad he did not play more.

A world class bat. Averaging 50 was not so easy as in later times. One of the great underrated players - in one match against SA, he single-handedly carried the batting.

As pure batsmen:

sangakarra

maccullum

dhoni

as a wicket keeper

maccullum

dhoni

sangakarra

But to be fair, dhoni never got the chance to play as pure batsmen (if I'm not mistaken other two's batting greatly improved on dropping gloves and moving up the order). I feel dhoni never fulfilled his true batting potential (due to being overworked- his own fault though as he just couldn't bare to share power in order to protect his financial interests)

More or less my analysis....so if I draw the curve for the keeper-bat ,Mccullum it is

Well I'm sure Flower's numbers in India boosted his avg quite a bit.  We went through a bad few years with touring south-paw batsmen - him, Hadyen, Chanderpaul just kept getting stuck in...

Yes, they did but it was also because he was extremely effective. At around the same time, Gilly, Punter, etc. were failing too.
