Its really not that expensive. £1000-£1500 is memory serves me correct.

 

Seen a few of them in the cricket leagues of the UK. A ranji player or a regular easily earns 25 lakhs a year.

Would it be shameful if I said I dont own a single bat. Last played competitive cricket in sixth form or high school 11/12 standard to those from different countries.

Last time I owned a cricket bat was way back in early 2000's during my childhood days, I had an IDM cricket bat then. Used to love playing lofted drive over the bowler's head with that bat. 

 

But the feel of that Kookaburra Kahuna bat which I tried while visiting a sports goods store is still fresh in my mind, light weight of that bat and fast swing speed of it got me thrilled. I think Ponting used the same bat till 2005 before MCC banned graphite covered bats.

No dude, don't worry about that. Same with me for Tennis. I am crazy tennis fan, watch so much live as much as cricket at times and follow even in person and attend tournaments but hardly played much or owned racquets etc.

 

I do not regret not playing much as a kid but I do often think about it.

IDM? You mesnt BDM?

 

Yeah, Punter used Kookaburra Kahuna a lot when Kookaburra first started that range of bats.

I thought I had seen someone play for India with kookaburra but did some research and could not find any info. I stillf feel I have seem someone but can't remember.

 

But I am pretty sure we can find someone playing with Kookaburra in Ranji at least, especially because now a lot of Kookaburra bats are being made in India, unlike before when it was being made only in Australia.

Yes, I am surprised that no obvious options pop up. I wonder if this bat is suited for more aggressive types in some way? Just two names is no sample size, I do realize that. I wonder what the young batsmen of Ranjis are using - Iyer, Panth, Kishan, Hooda, etc? Like, do the favour heavy or light bats? etc.

A lot of players in Ranji use SS bats and also until recently Rahane was using Nike sticker with different bat manufacturer.

 

You know Hashim Amla uses Bas Vampire. A lot of players use same Vampire bats like him with different stickers like that of Nike since Nike is paying them to put the sticker. All these new players - Rohit, Kohli, Rahane etc when they first came, were all having different bats with Nike stickers if you remember. Nike don't make bats, just the sticker was being used.

Not sure about all the time but let me tell you he was one of the most exciting players to watch when he used to bat.

 

I wish more fans watched him bat more closely at his peak without anything in their mind, as a lot of fans were busy protecting and defending Tendulkar(rightly) on forums when he was being compared to Tendulkar instead of enjoying Punter's genious patch. He was one of the most exciting players among all the overseas cricketers I have seen batting.

 

I enjoyed watching his batting more than that of Lara. Also he was a complete cricketer who was also one of the best fielders in the world that time if not the best. 

 

Kohli is like 50% Tendulkar and 50% Punter.

What made it worse for me, is his attempt to call it a "sticker".  Banjo, he used non-wood material to re-inforce his bat, such a blatant violation, and then tried to brazen it out by claiming its a effin 'sticker'.

Ponting had a huge surge for many years, and an equally long period of decline. His batting was very dashing indeed. Kohli is more Punter than Tendulkar.
