no idea but this looked quite quick. He is very young too,  only 21, tall guy, made is Ranji debut this season.

Nice to see lots of tall quicks coming up. Even though none of them are tear away quicks, the height factor is promising.

also, dont know why people formed an opinion about pant that he tries to hit every ball. He has a big bat swing but it is not like he tries to slog every ball. yesterday, I watched the game from the beginning. He cam in and took a few singles not trying to slog and the ball he got out to was there to hit but in the morning that pitch behaves a bit sticky and Pathan also bowling very slow at 120KPh, it just didnt come on to the bat and hit the bottom part of the bat when he was trying to hit over the top of mid off.

I don't think he is trying to hit every ball. But he hits a lot of balls in the air from the limited sample size I have seen

the innings that they made their opinion on had just one ball in the air and that went to the mid-off fielder who caught it and that ball was there to be hit.

It is possible that they saw him bat in other matches too.

No other matches featuring Pant have been televised this domestic season other than the first T20 game of this tournament where he scored 30 odd runs in very few balls and had to hit out from the get go. Also, T20s are not the right format to judge anyone's batting style.

Its not necessary the match should be televised for the commentators to form an opinion. They might have seen some domestic games or word of mouth from their colleagues ?
Don't forget the U19 matches were also telecasted .

Also no body was bashing him or calling him a hack . It was just an initial assessment on a promising young player. Its always good if you can play a lot more ground shots

cant see that because Delhi did not play Ranji trophy in Delhi this season but neutral venues and I dont see Rajdan would have gone to those venues to watch Delhi games.

My issue was commentator saying Pant hits shots in the air and Kishan does not while both does that. Both hits a lot in the air. Kishan hit 7 sixes yesterday and only 1 four which shows he too hit a lot in the air. They both need learn playing ground strokes and hitting in the gap for successful international career as both are great prospects.

Yes.....this is what I wrote earlier in this thread

 

Both need to cut down on aerial shots and be a bit more selective about the balls they hit.

Ishan Kishan played a lot of ball in the air as well and in playing so lost his bat grip a lot of times. Is it a case of sweaty palms or loose grip of bat? He also ended up getting out with one such one handed shot.

     Yes both seem to get excited about hitting sixes !  

     Hitting in air as such is not bad in fact it is very productive and you can make opposing captain go mad with his filed placements .

     But those Arial shots  have to be calculated ones keeping the filed placements in mind.

     Would like to see some of these improvements by them :

   1.  If bowler resorts to short pitched  stuff with a deep sqaure leg and deep mid wicket , i would like to see these 2 young fellas to play the         shots over point or ramp it up over the keeper.

   2. A back off the length ball   or shortish delivery can be carted over cover/cover point /point depending on where fielders are stationed              K L Rahul does this quite well . 

   3.  Maintaining  the balance when you are hitting is very important.

   4.   Also what i have seen when bowlers bowl far too many slower balls in death overs, indian batters still do not seem to pick it. 

     I would like these young guns to just expect most of the time a slower ball in such situations so that you have given yourself time to      allow the ball to come and then play the shot.  If bowler bowls the faster so be it , you defend and get 1-2 runs on such deliveries. There are bowlers who tghis a lot  Mills , Faulkener , Mustafiz ...

 

 Yes this would require  specific drills while practicing  for each of these .
