With the kind of food the local Chinese consume, what is kadvi davaai to us would be honey to them.

India Japan US need to work together Except, Taiwan isn't filled with ideological lunatics. What they want, is above all, to continue prospering. Taiwan realizes that as long as Taipei is de-facto in charge, they are better off 'smiling, nodding and then forgetting' what Beijing says. But Taiwan also knows, if they provoke Beijing with outright secession (without a valid excuse involving opression, etc), Beijing WILL respond militarily. And regardless of who wins, Taiwan will be destroyed. So don't count on Taiwan being the lynchpin of some anti-China alliance. Taiwan isn't willing to go to war over formal independence.

If it could attack Taiwan , It would have already. It needs a strong partner like Russia to fall back both diplomatically and militarily. Hence forget any military escalation. Only partner China got is in North Korea and Pakistan. It has armed them with nukes. Why do you say rest of world cant follow the same strategy? Or same strategy will fail? US still knows that , even with conventional weapons , Taiwan will be able to support itself but if need be, India can sell nukes to Taiwan.
beetle Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 China has become like a cranky old uncle with piles. Every morning they get angry with some one or the other and start off. Vilander 1

China can't attack Taiwan without provoking the US into a military confrontation. Thats high stakes for China. So China doesn't. Taiwan can't declare independence without provoking China into a military confrontation. Thats high stakes for Taiwan, so it doesn't. I don't see why the hell will the Taiwanese provoke China into war, instead of enjoying their de-facto independence and the 'smile, nod and don't give a crap' routine on the surface with Beijing, like they have been for the past 50 years.
