I wasn't comparing. I was undermining his criteria for selection that a pace bowler with 145kph should automatically be in contention.

Pace is not the only criteria maybe cliched but its the cold hard fact. You can bowl 160kph but if you are erratic, he shouldn't be available for selection

I have nothing against Thampi. I have never seen him bowl

He was in that team when he wasn't erratic and could bowl outswingers at that pace with control and also had an excellent yorker. He wasn't in the team because he could only bowl 150kph+

Then do not jump the gun...I've seen him bowl like many others in televised games. He is a terrific bowler and I have not said he should be picked just because he can bowl 145kph.Varun is faster but I've picked Thampi over him.Pace is a great asset to have but you need other aspects too.Thampi has a good yorker, slower one and quite accurate at that pace.Coming to Hooda he's a fantastic LOI prospect, scored heavily in Ranji and scoring runs in domestic one dayers.Got unreal strike rate,a brilliant prospect for LOIs.

You should first actually learn to read and learn to respect other people opinions lol. I have been watching cricket all my life. You are just an 12 year old keyboard warrior who has no clue about cricket in the first place. First learn about cricket and then quote me

Talking about respect...hahaha it's funny how some people have no idea about Indian domestic cricket and making lame assumptions.Maybe u r watching cricket all your life but U clearly have no clue about what's going on nowadays. :giggle:  I don't think it's necessary to elaborate about a young hot prospect like Thampi.

Everybody in this forum are aware of him, probably u r the only exception.

Yea Thampi.

He has close to ZERO chance to play the 2019 wc, just cause he bowled a couple of phaaaassst balls :giggle: you think he's in contention for the Indian team? LMAO He has a loooooong long way to go, icf overhype is hilarious sometimes :phehe:

He has a long way to go I agree but he has got enough potential to walk the walk.U can't ever say someone has zero chance. Doesn't work like that in real life.

Didn't say Zero, I said close to ZERO  All this hype around this guy based on just 1 match is so cringeworthy, the icfers are sounding like padosis who overhype every useless tailunt as the next big thing, let him first play for the A teams and perform over a season before even considering him and here you are putting him directly into the Indian team for the NEAR future lol

Pandya was nowhere near Indian team just 10 months ago, then he was drafted in the A team. He's a regular

in the LOI team now.I see potential in this guy, more than Sangwan specially considering LOIs.Can be deadly

pairing with Bumrah. But he can be in contention maybe with 1 good season of IPL.I'm not saying he's sure to

succeed but he can make it within 1 year or so with gradual progress and his talent.

We need to pick more players based on potential.Sometimes investing in those talents

gives you unexpected results.

based on one match. we have seen him bowl in at least 5 matches till now and he has been one of the best bowlers in those.

We have seen him in 6 matches so far and NOT  one.

Thing is....when you see  a fast bowler ( Thampi )    bowling quick, accurate, inswing yorkers at will combined with bouncers and slower balls....picking wickets and being economical....that gives cricketing reasons to promote that  bowler.

Will it happen  ?     No one can say.

Should it happen  ?     Based on cricketing reasons....yes.

If he gets chances at higher levels, will he succeed  ?    No one can say as his temperament for the big stage is unknown to us.   But, this risk is always there for EVERY  new player that is tried at higher levels.

It is better to collect a bit of information before passing strong negative opinions.

Hardik Pandya has got into the Indian team without any memorable FC season or consistent performances for the A team.

Rishabh Pant was chosen for Team India without playing for India A   ( He played a practice match for India  A after getting selected for Team India  ).

Kuldeep Yadav was not on the A tour to Australia  but is part of the test squad.

There are no hard and fast rules regarding all these    ( your original argument )

Who knows what can happen if Thampi has a good IPL and catches the eyes of Kumble-Kohli-Dravid.

WC is two and a half years away and a lot can happen within that time.

Why is the thampi brigade getting so senti, where did I say he shouldn't be selected? All I said was that he has a looooooooooong long way to go and he has close to ZERO chance of getting into the team in the near future, pandya is the the exception, not the rule, kuldeep has been performing in the domestics and he is also talked highly by the commentators so his comparison with thampi is wrong, don't see what the argument here is, who knows what path thampi will take but overhyping him based on few matches is wrong in my opinion, you are free to overhype him anyway

Thampi is also performing in the domestic, so, has every chance of being picked in LOI cricket.

Good, hope he doesn't disappoint, the first class stats don't look that impressive though
