Rohit

Rahul

Kohli(c)

Kedar

Hooda

Pant(Wk)

Hardik

Jadeja

Kuldeep

Thampi

Bumrah

Reserves:- Mayank,Manish,Chahal,Sangwan.

Back up options:- Nair,Iyer,Shankar,Akshar,BK,Nathu.

Looking at the future we have to promote young players so MSD,Yuvi both are not

in my squad.I think both should retire after CT 17  in England.Pant and Hooda are

in the squad in place of them.Ashwin and Shami are too valuable for tests and I

think they should concentrate on that for now specially when we've options and

given at the vulnerable nature of Shami.I've omitted Dhawan from the squad and

selected Chahal over Mishra.

I have seen hooda in IPL, he is a slogger not a batsman.

If Dhoni wants to play next WC and he is playing decently till then he will be picked for 2019 WC. Pant won't get a chance

You are picking a squad for WC which is going to start in May, way after our season ends. Both Ashwin and Shami (if fit) will be in the squad.

And you conveniently left out India's best swing Bowler Bhuvi plus an excellent death bowler.

And who the hell is Thampi

You have no idea about Hooda then. You don't know Thampi? He's a fast bowler from Kerala bowling 145k in SMA trophy.A terrific prospect right now.BTW are u living under a cave?:giggle:

Team to be tried to get ready  for WC 19

Rohit

Rahul  / Dhawan

Kohli

Nair /  Pandey

Pant

Jadhav / Hooda  ( slot for high SR batter who can bowl some overs )

Pandya / Shankar   ( slot for pacer-allrounder + big hitter )

Jadeja / Axar  ( slot for spinner-allrounder + hitter )

Kuldeep /  Bhuvi   ( we may need 4 pacers in England )

Shami /  Nathu /   Thampi /  Rajpoot   ( need to rotate pacer to find who is the best while resting Shami enough  )

Bumrah

No point trying aged players whose ability and  form  would be really uncertain after two and a half-years during WC 19.

I would like to add on Umesh. We need to take his case like any other upcoming bowler.  With lot of negativity around him recently in ODIs, people seem to just drop the gun on him for even future, which shouldn't be the case.

World cup is really far and we have a lot of cricket till then and there is a lot which can change and hence I will also keep Umesh in contention just because he got the pace which no one has at the moment.

As discussed enough in last few months that he is currently not good for ODI's for India, but that doesn't mean he can not improve in next year or two. If he learns and improves, I wouldn't mind him in our ODI's as with good line and variations, he can be a threat in future.

I would closely monitor his performance in the IPL and also during LOI domestic games in the future. He has plenty of time to show and make his way back to the Indian LOI team before 2019 wc.

Shuan Tait bowls at 150kph and he wont make even Indian team just like Varun Aaron doesn't. Pace is not the only criteria for selection.

And Hooda lol, he for saving his life couldn't even get bat on ball against quality fast bowling. I have never even seen him get his IPL team out of clutch situation even once. He is nowhere near close to International standards

Shaun Tait wouldn't make the Indian team *now* with his best years well behind him. At his peak, he was a certainty in a strong Australian side that was *never* short of fast bowling options. And he won them a world cup. That's how Australians rated his pace. So your foolish comparison of Thampi, who's a prospect and has bowled well in televised matches, with Tait is about as stupid as it gets. Throwing in a cliche line - pace is not the only criteria - only further underscores you lazy thinking. :)

[emoji106] and that's the cracking answer

Have you ever seen thampi bowl??? The guy can bowl yorker at will with Good velocity and talking about Tait he was in the all time best Aussie team in the era dominated by them ! Pace is pace

I wasn't comparing. I was undermining his criteria for selection that a pace bowler with 145kph should automatically be in contention.

Pace is not the only criteria maybe cliched but its the cold hard fact. You can bowl 160kph but if you are erratic, he shouldn't be available for selection

I have nothing against Thampi. I have never seen him bowl

He was in that team when he wasn't erratic and could bowl outswingers at that pace with control and also had an excellent yorker. He wasn't in the team because he could only bowl 150kph+

See but the base of his selection was pace that out swing you mentioned is learnt by him through some good technical coaching and round arm action , pace is something you can't teach its natural swing and accuracy will come through with experience! So pace is the first criteria you should look for what's the use of accuracy with trundling speed ?? Batsman like ab will smack you out of the park Indian history is filled with numerous examples

Except that you are undermining nothing but a strawman. Nobody said Thampi ought be selected *only* because of his pace. Watch some cricket, and learn to read posts before unloading useless cliche :)

You should first actually learn to read and learn to respect other people opinions lol. I have been watching cricket all my life. You are just an 12 year old keyboard warrior who has no clue about cricket in the first place. First learn about cricket and then quote me

Yeah I agree with you here. I would want a pace bowler with swing in those english conditions though

Why are you assuming that Shebby wants Thampi in the ODI  team because of his pace alone   ?

Thampi was seeing bowling lots of  accurate, inswinging yorkers at pace during the death overs in multiple matches. He mixed them up cleverly with good bouncers and bowled some slower balls too.......picked up lots of wickets and was generally economical during the state-level SMA competition.  Surely someone who has potential as a LOI bowler.

Skilled seamers with pace are what every team wants and are usually better than skilled seamers without pace.

Because he did not elaborate. I haven't watched Thampi bowl till now. I am sure he is good prospect seeing many people opinions.

Couldn't agree more with your last statement.

That is because Thampi is being actively discussed for the last 20 days or say.   You can check out the thread on him for more info.

It's only hype bro. They're all hype. They will fizz out in 6 months.
