Gone are the one sided contest where Virat was scoring double centuries ,Ashwin was taking 10 wicket hauls.

Loved the determination shown by Renshaw,loved the way Australian batsman played Ashwin & Jadeja

If India woiuld have scored 300 on this wicket, it would have been game on.

But yes it was abosrbing day of test cricket.

It will be a perfect test if India comes back strongly in the 2nd inning

Intensity was great from us especially in the morning session.

First session of play was probably one of the most reveting session in the recent past. Only 5 boundaries 3 of which were of Renshaw edge.

Though intensity faded away a bit in the final session. Nevertheless a great day of test cricket

Great batting today from Aus. Looks like they've ditched the "fearless (reckless) cricket" approach that England are trying to copy. Time for England to do the same.

Aussies have now Lyon & O Keefe to support Staarc & Hazlewood ,probably the best bowling attack India has faced this home series

Whole hearted effort by bowlers today,respect.Ashwin being ineffective proved decisive and obviously inane underbowling of Jadeja did not help.

Renshaw has been a surprise,he has played a very determined inning

We have been outplayed completely.

 

Every damn department.

Good test cricket and good effort from bowlers especially in first two sessions but spoiled by Kohli's captaincy. He still has a lot to learn. He was put under real pressure for the first time as captain and he didnt respond very well.

 

He underbowled Jadeja vastly despite taking a wicket in his first spell and also used him sparingly despite taking a wicket after being brought to bowl. There were also more of the same tactics from Ashwin and seamers throughout the day despite not bringing results. They lacked imagination and became too repetitive. 

 

You could clearly see the difference in the way Dhoni used to handle spinners and how Kohli did. But Dhoni had legends like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Kumble to learn from as he played along side them and Kohli didnt have that luxury but hope he learns what it takes to manage and utilize your resources in a better way.

 

But not to take anything away from Aussies, they batted out of their skins and fought for every run and battled some good bowling spells and tough conditions. Their ability to stay at the wicket and absorb pressure even when they were not scoring was impressive and it augurs well for their future.

 

As for the match situation, India had dug themselves into a hole by batting poorly in the first innings and today's batting from Australia pretty much sealed India's fate in this match.

If only Kohli had taken the catch of renshaw or reviewed that other ball that touched marsh glove, we would be batting right now.
