Who should partner Umesh as pace bowler in Tests

Umesh has pretty much sealed his spot due to consistent performances. When Fit Shami should be his partner. However in his absence who would be your pick. Our current management seems to think Ishant is doing a great job as a containing bowler. 

 

Bhuvi has legit claims to the spot with good showing in the chances he has got. However, he looks flat on some of the more easy pitches. 

 

So it would have to be someone from outside this setup. Which of the rookies are ready for top level?

When Shami is unfit, we should try Aniket. Especially now with the supposed pacer backing going on least you can expect is one debut to a pacer in 2+ years.

I personally feel we should get Kuldep Yadav  in for Ishant Sharma and get H Pandya in for Karun Nair or Rahane. Australia struggles big against chinamen

Would have liked to see Aaron if Shami was unfit. Cummins is called up after just 1 FC game in a long time due to his pace. Aaron should have been called up to replace Pandya who was injured.

Actually bumrah is the perfect one to partner umesh as his action is side on and his ball angles across the lefthander with umesh being round arm !

I want to see pacers who have the ability to set up batsmen and also have  pace +  deck-hitting ability

Ishant lacks skills and ability to set up batsmen.... does not want to use bounce in India.  Has pace and uses bounce outside India.

 

Umesh lacks ability to set up batsmen and does not want to use bounce.  Has pace and skills.

 

Bhuvi lacks pace and bounce.  Has skills and ability to set up batsmen.

 

Shami has skills, pace, bounce and ability to set up batsmen

 

We need another quick like Shami.... preferably another couple like him.

Shami when fit else Aaron/Aniket.I'm slightly inclined towards Aaron though.

Bhuvi should be tried for the next match in place of Ishant. Also hoping Aaron makes a comeback. He too has improved his accuracy. I feel if Aaron gets the same kind of support that Umesh has got, he can be a good bowler for us.

Dont know why the selectors are so averse to giving Aaron any chances. He hasnt done bad in the chances he'd been given. Too many chances were let go off his bowling in Aus. Has been made a scapegoat.

Ishant is useful overseas on bouncier wickets but looks binign and uselesd on these kind of surfaces.

he did play against SA, did reasonably okay,  looked good but have not been picked since then. They picked Shardul for WI tour who to me is far from being an international material.

Aaron posted this a few days back on his facebook page "The communication system in the current Indian team set-up has been brilliant. In my case, I was injured, so there wasn’t much the team management could have told me. But the aim is to play for India again."

But he has been fit now for last one and a half months, played SMA trophy, played Vijay Hazare trophy, Should be picked for Deodhar trophy too. I had hoped he could have been picked for last 2 tests when Pandya got injured. They didnt even pick him for warm-up games. I dont like Ishant playing these tests in India as he has been very below average at home for quite sometime now.

Selectors should have selected Aniket in the squad for the 3rd & 4th test.Ishant has been given a very long rope

This selection has to be left pick because our Ranji wicket takers will not likely be great in international level. If you want to go for accuracy and skill you would anyway go for Bhuvi

Problem is that in absence of Shami our second choices are limited.BK doesnt cut it in India,no way can he be selected.So the obvious choice becomes Ishant.Unless ofcourse we want to bring in a Aaron or a new face.

Virat wants control which he feels Aaron can't give may be due to his exploits at rcb under Kohli.But Aaron actually has better control than Umesh.Its a pity he is not in the team He is probably Worlds Fastest Bowler.
