"Silver" Sindhu comes up short once again.  ANybody watch the match?  What happened, did she choke or she got genuinely out-played?

Ability wise her F opponent is the greatest modern era female badminton player and when she gets her bearings right no one can compete with her, not even Marin. I have followed Tai Tzu for quite some time and IMO her talent is out of the world...kinda like the badminton equivalent of 2004-07 Federer. She routinely chokes in the big matches but this tournament there was no choking. Beat Okuhara and the 2 Indians all in straight sets....well deserved gold. Sindhu is extremely consistent but doesn't have a very high ceiling which means she often comes up short against peaking players, and in summit clashes every time she has to play an in form high quality player. But take nothing away from her consistency, making finals in all big events is an incredible feat.

I won't judge Sindhu harshly today, I have seen the Taiwanese thrash peak Marin much worse. There was nothing she could do today tbh. Anyhow Tai Tzu is 9-3 against Sindhu and 11-5 against Saina.....so clearly the gulf in class and match up issue is apparent. Now that she has overcome her mental block won't be surprised if she gets into rampage mode in future big events. Most experts believe she has the quality to become the GOAT female badminton player.

Missing 2 gold in Kabbadi and all those athletic golds lost of qatar and UAE because of african import athletes from Nigeria kenya etc.

Its quite something that North Korea is able to get more Gold than India. India should be a bit above Iran if we truely talk about availability/opportunity and size of following for sport achieving a gold.

Another silver in 4*400m relay . This could have been our 10th gold if not for MEs oil money ?

Medals dont tell how much we have improved in Athletics .

it means Indians need to set their bar high, and train with african origin atheletes and compete with them.

Another historic medal assured in TT as expected.

Achanta/Manika in semis of mixed doubles. First TT female Indian medallist ever. :adore: This is so good. Another revolutionary like Saina. TT like Badminton is completely dominated by Asian countries, so these are almost as good as olympic medals.

Loving it !!!

India is still underperforming considering its vast potential as a nation.

True enough, but its undeniable that things are looking a lot better in the last 10 years or so.  And the trendline is in the right direction.  I like how the focus on Shooting is paying dividends.  Wonder why we can't get competitive in Archery...
