  1. Biggest challenge both of them will find is that the dressing room has moved on from them. Last 4-5 months have seen a generation shift and both of them will feel it. Players and coaches would still be respectful to them but highly unlikely they will still be the center of all attention, like earlier. It'll be not the same as a Sachin or Dravid playing under say Dhoni. They had not retired from other formats, continued to play domestic cricket when available etc. Have no doubt the legends as they have been, both will still find ways to score runs but their longevity is not going to be about runs alone.
  2. Rajat Patidar with his maiden 200. 3rd 100 along with 3 50s in the season for him..nearly 700 FC runs across 5 games. Super impressive.
  3. So what exactly is wrong with Hari as the Data analyst of the team? You quoted the guy whom Dravid got into the setup as a coach and his contract was not renewed when coaching set up changed. Is your problem him not being the data analyst? You have Kuldeep and Varun C publicly acknowledging role of Hari in their Asia Cup success. But nah, that doesn't count BTW ECB had scaled down their data analyst team ahead of the India test series with Mccullum saying he will prefer to go by 'guts'. Likely you missed the news or are pretending not to have read about it.
  4. And you trust this ex-analyst? Hari Prasad Mohan is the Performance Analyst and was very much with the team (along with two video analysts) during the recent series or earlier in England. Saw them sitting in the dugout with their laptops and cameras at Kotla. In fact Kuldeep and Varun C thanked Hari publicly after the Asia Cup win. But I guess anything goes in the name of being critical of the current TM.
  5. 2nd best all-rounder in the world after Jadeja since his test comeback last year vs NZ. TM continues to back him and Nitish Reddy to bolster after below average lower order and to prepare them for the tougher assignments in SENA. Like Gambhir said in post match conference, will be unfair on them if they were picked only for SENA tests, have to given chances in easir home conditions as well to help their development. Besides Gill, the only ones picked for all three formats.
  6. Upto Agarkar and Gambhir how they want to use him. Bilateral T20Is and ODIs should be a no. Two back to back tests vs WI should have been avoided as well, despite much lower workload. Shot a few videos of Bumrah's bowling (from right behind his end above the sight screen), one noticeable difference is the shoulder effort he used to put in earlier is no longer the same. Will try to upload the videos on a drive and share the link here
  7. I was at Korla last couple of days. Was in the stand right behind the end from which Bumrah bowled (Old Club House). The overall intensity in not just Bumrah but generally in the squad was a notch lower, expected given the quality of opposition. Both the days neither Bumrah nor Siraj were running in with full intensity, did bowl some pacy deliveries towards the end of the WI 1st innings though. Absolute lack of pace or bounce on the pitch or reverse swing is the likely reason. Every throw was on one bounce to the keeper to rough up the ball but nothing happened. Generally Bumrah did appear to be a bit unfit and aloof. He did field throughout the day and a half though. Did his own drills without speaking much to the coaching staff before or after the play started. Should not travel to Australia for the bilateral T20Is and play only tests for now.
  8. Imagine taking out their frustration on a 23 yr old, who loves to bowl fast, is fiercely competitive and gives it his all. Worst was to see Krishna Srikanth slamming Rana's selection and cling him Gambhir's yes man. As Selectors Chairman, the same Srikanth picked Manpreet Gony(CSK) for India team after one decent season despite not having lots of experience. Was a good decision then to give opportunities to a young pacers, same thing that Gambhir and Agarkar are trying to do
  9. Team management backing the only fit pacer currently who has bowled 145 kmph+ isn't a surprise. Wish him well on becoming our middle overs enforcer. Good on Gambhir and Agarkar for thinking. Gives me hope they will equally back Mayank and Umran once they are fully fit What isn't a surprise is the usual Gambhir bashing brigade and Rohit-Kohli PR taking it all out on Gambhir. But like in the case of picking 5 spinners for CT, Gill as Test captain and batting heavy sides in England, this round will also go in favour of GG.
  10. Easier games out of the way. Middle order was tested and they delivered along with bowlers. Fielding, catching and particularly keeking have to raise the bar. These players have improved their athleticism under Amol Majumdar with Anand Date doing a good job as fitness trainer. Will attribute the lapses , particularly by Richa to nerves. Generally she has been rock solid behind the stumps in last 3-4 years. Is a key player along with Amanjot if we have to win. Time also for big guns Smritu, Harman and Jemima to step up vs the top teams.
  11. Always look beyond the numbers. Rinku had a great start to his FC career, averages 100+ in two seasons but has tapered off massively since his T20 career started to flourish. No FC 100s in last two seasons. In fact has 2 FC 100s in last 30 FC matches. Till last season he was in FC squads. Played for India A last January during England Lions tour. His scores were 0, 38, 0 across two unofficial tests which our A side won. Later in the year, though not named originally in the Four squads for Duleep Trophy, he did come in as replacement in India B, but scored 6. Needs to start scoring big runs in FC cricket again to be in contention with so much talent going around.
  12. ICC Chairman doesn't have to speak. It's upto the BCCI and they were busy with the AGM yesterday, where new office bearers were picked. Otherwise Rajiv Shukla would have definitely been on the dias. Again, BCCI and GOI left everything to the poor cricketers and Modi shamelessly was the first one to tweet with references to Operation Sindoor with other BJP ministers and politicians jumping in almost on a cue, all for the social media. Absolutely gutter level spineless actions from GOI and BCCI in the last 3-4 weeks. Credit to SKY particularly and to GG for keeping the team sane amidst the political drama, though GG should never ever talk about boycott of Pakistan on national media.
  13. Are you a born idiot or became a mental retard later in your life? The Indian captain who won the trophy under such immense political pressure is being called a mental midget and showboat? SKY shielded the team from every single political controversy in this tournament. The off field politics weighed on his performance, which can happen to the best of the lot. Don’t you ever dare insult an Indian player, let alone the captain right after lifting a trophy. You have no right. If your life is so miserable that this is how you vent, go * yourself and rot in your frustration.
  14. While the gesture is appreciated and is a well deserved beijjati of the Pakistani minister, can the jokers of Govt and BCCI particularly Modi and Shah, now show their real muscle is ousting the bastard Naqvi from post of ACC Chairman? Should be easier if they want to rather than asking poor SKY to front face so much. All I have read is BCCI Secretary saying they will raise this with ICC. What a meek response. SKY and the players should not have had to do all of this if GOI and BCCI did not prioritize money over everything else. Least they can do now is to flex some muscle and show their power.
  15. That should end all speculations on why he's not getting picked in tests. Despite a stellar ODI record, as a specialist batsman (unlike Pandya), this also diminishes his certainty for LOIs and surely is the end of any discussion about him being made a captain in LOIs.
  16. Disappointing to see Shreyas Iyer opting out of Duleep Trophy. You are made the captain of India A team and you decide to rest for personal reasons. Sounds strange and does no good to his claim for a test spot. ven if he has been told he will not be picked, he should have played.
  17. Suspicion? LOL no your words were All three were critical knocks, Afg one being a match winning knock to kick off our campaign. BTW which other batsman at 4 or below did better than SKY in that WC? But I will leave it here. I am happy to see us not stumble after retirements of Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja. Of course, the bigger challenge is the World Cup next year, I will cheer for SKY to pick up his personal form.
  18. Before that final in the same WC Vs Afghanistan 53(28) when we were going at 7 rpo and openers had scored 32(37) 31(16) vs Australia to carry the momentum after Rohit onskaught In SF vs England 47 (36) coming in at 40/2 Minnow bashing, doing nothing of note? Naah, that's your bias. The guy literally changed T20 batting approach of our top order, before Rohit embraced it wholeheartedly. As for travesty as a captain, a W/L record of 21/4 (with youngsters thriving) says something else, that too coming in after three core pillars of the team moved on. The team travesty is that so many on this forum and many experts want to see Iyer lead and hence didn't accept Gill as test captain or SKY leading in T20Is.
  19. Arrogance? In last 10 years the record reads 14 W/ 3 L. With most of these being one sided wins, including yesterday. Last 20 years have been 35 W/ 15 L for us. For comparison 2000s were 23 W/ 25 L (closest to a rivalry) 1990s were 18 W/ 28 L 1980s were 10 W/ 23 L Essentially for the current generation, they have only seen India overtly dominate Pakistanis . Fair to say that reflected in SKY's comments. An additional factor is in these 15-20 years, Pakistan has hardly had any world class superstars unlike from the 80s and 90s. Hence the general awe ( listen to Gavaskar, Shastri, Sidhu, Ajay Jadeja speak about them) has also faded. Plus he was responding to the off and on field antics of Pakistani jokers since last week. It was an apt response, even if a bit OTT. I don't like that our team and players are having to clean up the mess they have been left in by a bunch of spineless idiots in GOI and money hungry morons in BCCI.
  20. Classic @rkt.india Always with a contrarian take. If ICF right now would have been supporting sporting ties and keeping sports out of geopolitics, he’d have taken the opposite view from everyone else and called for a boycott.
  21. As many have said, only naming and shaming should be of the current government, particularly Modi and shah, ruling party members and it's minions.on social media who keep distributing patriotism certificates. To a lesser extent, I'll add Gambhir for his hypocrisy. Imagine SKY having to say no handshake was a Govt and BCCI discussion. Players did have the option of opting out but then knowing how vindictive the political leadership is, their careers would have ended. When someone like Ganguly was removed unceremoniously, who are mere cricketers but pawns in political gamesmanship. In fact, I fear SKY may face repercussions for his statements. Definitely not what the top two seem to have been hoping for.
  22. After Asia Cup is Aus A series, then our home season starts. Where exactly do you schedule the tournament then? Test squad players like Gill, Yashasvi, Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep, Harshit Rana, Easwaran, Akash Deep were all picked in various squads with Gill, Jurel and Easwaran missing due to injuries. Only ones not picked were Bumrah, Siraj, Jadeja, Pant, and SZ teams (Rahul, Sundar and Prasidh). Karun not picked as he switched teams. To me, South Zone not picking India team players and prioritizing Ranji performers was also an okay decision. Almost all zonal squads picked Ramji performers. Lots of youngsters - Melawar, Rathod, Andre Sidharth, Smaran, Badoni, Sindhu, Dhull, Harsh Dubey, Manishi. With so many pacers injured or not having played FC cricket, that was one big drawback. Two things BCCI should have done is to have a. more help for seamers and not prepare pattas in earlier rounds and b. live streaming for earlier matches (Final was on Jio Hotstar and it was a good watch) - for which there were hardly anytakers going by how quite this thread was for a match coming live.
  23. Thank you @Suhaan for raising the voice and @Gambit for locking the thread. As the match gets closer, I feel more helpless rage. All I want right now is to give a mouthful to the clowns in our so called nationalist government and the corrupt bastards at the BCCI. I hope social media is full of such posts and videos specially targetting the PM and his so called Chanakya.
  24. I feel for the players. Caught in a very difficult situation. Any sportsmanship like handshakes, pre or post match with Pakistani players will be picked up by social media to target them questioning their patriotism. Kohli and Rohit will be thanking their stars, else they would have got all the abuse for this match Besides our money hungry ruling party politicians, biggest hypocrite in all this is Gambhir. Man has lost all credibility after accepting gov decision lying down, just two months back he was showing a lot of bravado asking for complete boycott. But when it came to loyalty to Gov and BCCI vs national pride, he went with the government. He even chickened out from addressing the press. Thoroughly disappointed
  25. We played Pakistan at the peak of Kargil war in 1999 WC. That's besides the point. Back then you did not have Pakistani celebs openly chest thumping on Pahalgam or similar attacks. The vocal public sentiment in India is not the same anymore. We did not cancel Indus Water Treaty or trade and cultural relations then. We did not ban Pakistani media , channels back then. To do all this and then to shamelessly go ahead and play them is a pathetic abject cowardly surrender by the current government and BCCI. They have lost all moral rights to talk about sanctioning Pakistan by other countries. Their nationalistic talk is all bravado and hot air. Money is supreme for them.
