Rahul, Rahane and Nair can  score quite quickly in  test matches too, among specialist batsmen.

Rahul. Yea. I am his fan. Forgot about him. Rahane, these days, he seems like he is in a hurry to score a duck. Nair, his domestic stats suggests that he is relatively a slower player. But ya Nair is better than Pujara, Vijay, Ashwin and Rahane when it comes to strike rate.

What's the point in blooding him here? Whether he succeeds or fails his 2nd test appearance won't be for a while.

His 200 in warm-up against Australia did the job for him after a middling Ranji season.

By the same logic, we could have tried Navdeep Saini in place of  Ishant.

He troubled almost all Aussie batsmen in the practrice match and would have done well in Dharamsala.   He is a wicket-taker.

Iyer had a decent Ranji season as well.  Its not like he stank it up.  And he is in the "next" batch of batsmen.  He's done it for more than just a season.

I was talking about Navdeep Saini

Hope they also start giving chance to youngsters in playing eleven and not just  have them in squad. For a long time I want to see Kuldeep Yadav making debut.

Agreed, I wish they had picked him in the first test instead of Jayant Yadav.
