Yoda-esque Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Just because he does not "look" fit does not mean that he isn't. I haven't seen any drop in his fielding standards or his running between wickets. He is and was always electrifying on field. In fact, even now I rate him more highly than Kohli in the outfield in terms of catching.

If I, or anyone else for that matter, would've been in the players' shoes would've done the same thing. Everyone has the right to maximize their earning potential so why not? If you're given a 2 month contract which pays more than 2 years' salary of your regular job, wouldn't you take it?

There should be at least some passion for the work you do. If a player plays just for the money then he shouldn't be going in media and say I love the game or I love to play at the highest level or I take pride in my performance for the country. At least some urge should be there to play for the country or to compete at the highest level in the game. Edited April 5, 2017 by Number

Players have a very short span at the top and if they get dropped or injured nobody's gonna help them out. Theoretically it's all and good saying players should play for the love of country but you got to be pragmatic. If a player gets injured or suffers a loss of form, will he still get paid? How will he take care of himself and his family rest of his life? We've already seen former hockey stars who won gold medal in Olympics sell their gold medal for cash and die in poverty. Nobody did anything for them and won't do anything for the cricketers as well. It's lucky cricket has lot of money and players are within their rights to earn as much as they can. sandeep 1

It shows that the hours he has been dedicating to fitness has perhaps reduced. When this coincides with a fall in overall performance in international cricket then the signs are even more ominous. Raina ticks all the boxes. Also as a batsman putting on weight starts to affect u once ur over 30. The reason i have been quite criticial of raina n rohit in terms of weight is coz it will start to affect their batting n fielding once they are on wrong side of age. Which happ to many of our past batsman In todays age putting on weight is unacceptable specially when we are talking about raina n rohit who were so fit. IF someone like dhoni can work so hard on fitness at this age why not these guys. Say watever bout nehra g but credit to him for his fitness over guys like pathan , rp, munaf who werent injury prone like him Ultimately its about hunger, somewere it indicates me the hunger isnt the same. Raina has been a team man and selfless player but doesnt mean his priorities cannot change which what his coach said. express bowling and Ultimate_Game 2

It is a shame for an international athlete. because he claims he was sick and could not train, and even otherwise if his employers dont see him as unfit then there is no need for folks to jump a him for being 'fat' i am pretty sure many 'super fit' keyboard warriors are less 'fit' that this guy, he his all muscle inside the chubby i am sure.
Pollack Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Forget his fitness, his batting itself an issue. He should at the most play t20s at international level. Otherwise make money from IPL only. Nothing wrong in it. Ankit_sharma03 1
