Our guys couldn't beat mighty Chase and co on the same pitch in almost same situation. So we have to give Pakistan credit but it was Mishra's fault.

Did you even watch that game?  It was a very different pitch.  Totally dead.  Windies prepared complete dead tracks for our team, because they didn't think they had a chance to win, and played for draws.   Against Pakistan, they think they have a shout, so the track was nowhere near as dead.   Too bad that their batting completely caved in - twice.   Credit to Pakistan for getting the job done - they don't always do that when expected.

I did watch some parts for it, weren't WI 42/4 at the fourth day still trailing over 250 runs, from that position to draw the game is a mighty achievement, pitch does not matter in that situation, fielding team has to win that match, Kohli's captaincy and bowling was lot to be desired. If Jadeja was playing that match India would have won.

That is where Indian bowling has to improve. They need to have that ability to take 20 wickets everywhere,at this point they have that at home but not overseas. They have let slip lot of winning positions into draws by that inability to land that final blow to flatten opponents.

This match was gifted by WI to Pakistan by their sloppy fielding. This match was much closer than that match where India dominated for 90 percent except failed to launch that final blow.

I agree with you that VK's captaincy and Jadeja's absence cost us that match.   Hopefully a learning experience for the team.  They are yet to truly dominate teams so far.  The only time they have arguably done it, is T5 @ Chennai against the exhausted Pommies - but even there, we did let them put up a 400+ in the 1st dig.

And you are absolutely right on Windies' poor fielding letting Pak into this match.   Batting has been even worse IMO.  Pak, especially Amir bowled well.  But the scores that Windies put up could easily have been bettered with a bit of application.

Going by the Windies performance in the 1st test, it looks unlikely.

But historically Pakistan have flunked many times in WI. They seem to have a weird mental block there post 2000 and have snatched too many defeats on the cusp of glory. Hope the trend doesn't change. WI are missing Darren Bravo here.

Badly.  Their test batting is seriously lacking.  I would say if Bravo was in this team, they would have won this match.

And that's the reason that I think Windies will not be able to come back in this series, Pak flunkiness and all.   Even this game, Windies could have saved it or even won it if they had held on to half of the missed chances - they are just too incompetent to take advantage.   And now that Pak is up 1-0 in the series, the pressure will be off of their batsmen.

Teams scored runs against mighty WI of 1980s and also Aussies of 2000s but when other teams scored  runs, their batsmen facing weaker bowling attacks made sure they got enough runs to force a result. Cricket was much more laid back in 80s where over rates were not strict and teams did not have drive to win every match that is why WI do not have as many wins as Aussies.

That is where Aussies score over WI, they had this burning desire to win every match, for them winning series was not enough they had to win every match, draw for them was like a loss.

Indians under Kohli have that desire at home but they need to have that everywhere  for that they need to win those matches like Sabina park one. They need stronger performances from their bowlers. When they can take 14 cheap wickets but fail to take the other six , it is sign of lack of mental skill rather than physical skill.

Seeing how dumbfounded the Windians were against Yasir once the pitch started spinning, Pakistan should unleash Shadab Khan in the second test.

The lad was turning it square in the one day matches and I would expect him to get immediate spin in the tests as well.

Admittedly going in with two right armed leggies is a bit risky but West Indies lack of proficiency against leg spin is reason enough.

Furthermore his batting will also boost our tails run production.

Good win... was looking like a draw after Pak 1st inng...

Glad Misbah and Younis scoring... Amir and Yasir coming back in form, each taking 6for...

Issues once again in opening... I think Pak wasting Azhar Ali by sending him as opener, he is a #3,4...

We must bring Sami Back, 2nd opener can be Hafeez instead of Shehzad, both will do somewaht similar, Hafeez with an advantage of bowling option... After Misbah and Younis our lineup can be: Sami, Hafeez, Babar, Azhar, Haris, Asad with Sarfraz and 4 bowlers...

Once Misbah and YK retire he will move back to 3.

I am also open to Malik making a test comeback. He is a very mature bat now and can ease the transition for us.

Thankfully its a 3 match series this time.

2 match series can allow a weaker side to get away with a drawn series but not when its 3 or more.

Westindies have some good younguns coming through . Hetmeyer is a major upgrade on paprika chandrika . Much stronger side than the one india faced . A lof to build on.

That team we faced had Blackwood, Bravo and Samuels. If they were here today you would have had to chase 200 +. And considering you guys were barely able to chase 36, you would have lost lol
