Manjrekar reviews todays game: i agree and he could have been a lil more blunt

Good points...actually the 3 batsman who performed today bar Matthews I think 2 of them

were even mentioned by Ian Chappell as very talented

Phattu Manju doesn't even want to be accused of criticising Indian batting.  So he says its Simon Hughes who "put the thought in my head".

Couple of points where I differ from Manju...

 

1. When talking about Indian pacers, he should've specifically called out Umesh as Bhuvi and Bumrah were much better and didn't deserve to be put in the same category as Umesh.

 

2. And Manju missed out on our poor bowling changes where we saved Umesh for the death when he should've bowled more in the middle overs.

 

Other than that Manju was spot on.

Give him the pass here...he genuinely seems like a soft natured guy...nothing wrong with what he said or how he said it. Yes lot of things to hate about Manjrekar's commentary but I genuinely think he is a good guy ever since I saw the tehelka tapes.

Manju will never call out players.   He's too CYA to do that.  He knows he has a good gig and he wants to keep it.

Then he could've said something on the lines of "India missed a trick by not attacking more and bowling Umesh in the middle overs" and that statement would've been spot on. From 15th over till IIRC 38 it was all Jaddu, Pandya, Kohli and Jadhav. Maybe Kohli could've bowled Yuvi as well  

 

At the end of the day we didn't even try and attack during the middle overs and SL had it much easier against the lesser bowlers.

Shant Sunny Deol Shanat...My reference was not to him not being a fixer...In those tapes,there is a conversation between with him and Manoj Prabhakar where he comes across as a likeable bloke who is soft natured and keeps to himself .

 

For a moment I thought you were totally against what he said and then I saw your post that you agreed with what he said,so why are you ranting about him

 

Now he was correct in what he said as it was a collective failure today and didn't pinpoint individuals,so for "THIS" occasion he was spot on.

 

I already said I am not a fan of his commentary.
