I recently saw Mitch Starc's stats and had to do a double take: 134 wickets in just 68 games at an average of 20, ER of 4.8 in this era, SR of 25(!!), with 8 4fers and 5 5fers! And he was the leading wicket taker in the 2015 WC with an avg of 10 at an ER of 3.5.

This guy will will end up as the greatest ODI bowler of all time.

I think Starc was at his absolute peak during the WC.  He's not quite there at the moment - I don't know if its after his injury issues, or a rhythm issue.   Quality bowler though.

Starc's one of the best bowlers at the moment and will probably end up as an ATG in shorter formats by the time he's done. Plus he has a penchant for picking up wkts in his first over and nearly always gets a wkt or two in his first spell. And when he comes back he can nail yorkers. A complete package IMO :hatsoff:

In last 4 years he averages nearly 50 with the bat.

Apart from Sanga who has retired no one even comes close in that period. Not even De Kock in terms of stats.

Sarfraz lol

Dhoni needs 30 balls to get going at least n he score 10 to 15 runs in that period n he played second fiddle to other guys, cannot hit the big shots like he used to or rotate strike, he is not half as good as QuintonDK currently, yes in his prime India's best ODi bat but playing on past laurels last 3 years atleast

Dhoni strike rate in that period is 92 and De Kock is 94 despite playing in powerplays .So there really isn't much of a difference. It shows Dhoni always stays long enough make up that diffence in case of slow starts,.

Despite that yes De Kock is better WK bat than Dhoni but if u think Sarfraz is then that's juts delusional.

Typical ICF thread. Usual suspects cant even live with Dhoni topping a survey. I wonder how do they live peacefully after watching him in India blues. Must be quite a burn.

Don't even get me started on this little whiny post of yours. Admittedly some posters go overboard but its equally true dhoni fans get their undies twisted on slightest possible thing said about dhoni even if its a fact. The other day I talked about how dhoni with his limited technique and abilities excelled due to him knowing his limitations and adjusting himself in best possible way and for best possible role for him. It was actually meant to be praise but @Ultimate_Game has to take offense on word 'limited' called for Dhoni. He had long debate with other posters also about the same. Some of them whining posts just like yours now.

Now here is it from Dhoni himself:

"All the fast bowlers are quite difficult, with the limited technique I had, it was very difficult to face the fast bowlers. Still, if I had to pick one, I would pick Shoaib Akhtar," said Dhoni.

Lastly forum would not be a proper place if there are no contrary opinions. If its just a fan gathering you can do it in any club. Not everyone worships your idol. If you don't like someone's view you can safely ignore and move forward. Unless a player has been abused with derogatory words(can report such posts) learn to live with contrary opinion.

For once you need to remove your hate goggles and look at things from a neutral perspective. I did not take exception to the word "limited" but the context in which it was used. Of course Dhoni has a limited technique just like Sehwag did or for that matter numerous batsmen do. I took exception to the way the word was used to belittle or degrade one of the greatest players we have. The exact term used was "limited player" and not "limited technique" in that case IIRC. To me there's a world of difference between the two and you simply have to look at that thread and this one to get the context.

Dhoni does have a limited technique but a limited player/batsman he certainly isn't. Same with Sehwag. Limited batsmen are the likes of Rahane or Murali Vijay who can't figure out a way to score when the bowler doesn't give freebies. Likes of Dhoni and Sehwag have "limited" technique but their unorthodox approach and technique does not make them "limited batsmen". See there's a difference which gets lost in the context.

In fact here's the actual post from you which I'm quoting...

Are you now really gonna come out and say you were "praising" Dhoni :giggle: I knew you were a hater before but now know you're a liar as well.

I don't think Dhoni cared only about himself.Actually dhoni is a limited player and he used himself pretty good being captain hiding whenever required and taking glory whenever comfortable. But he captained India decently. A true Street smart cricketer. But the praise for him is disproportional and sometimes at the expense of others.

Here's the actual post and thread...

Yeah you were really "praising" Dhoni and are not a "hater" :giggle:

But you didn't read posts after that immediately. Clearly explained what I meant. :giggle: Unlike here where you claim you accept Dhoni having Limited technique. :giggle: You were not accepting limited and dhoni on the same line. :giggle:

Anyway not a dhoni hater. Once used to defend him amongst discussion with my friends. But nowadays he is past it and still gets undeserved praise for doing great currently even if he is clearly not. Even a regulation catch is hyped up as something only dhoni can do and similar things. If you remember the match against Bangladesh final delivery and dhoni took out his gloves. This is pretty regulation stuff for keeper. But entire social media( which is fine because it is full of crap) and few posters were also in awe of this pretty much regulation stuff.

I accept Dhoni and "limited" in the same sentence and. After all I'm not saying Dhoni has the greatest technique since Bradman. I simply pointed out your duplicity in the context you used the term and have shown using your "quote" the context of the usage of the word and how you were "praising" Dhoni. At least I don't lie claiming I was "praising" a certain player as has been shown as a blatant lie in your case. Now are you still claiming that post of yours as "praising" Dhoni? :giggle:

P.S. - And I did read the complete thread and everyone else can too (have quoted the same) and anyone can see who was 'praising' whom :winky:

Yes that was praise. But more than that it was also a fact. No you were not pointing out any duplicity at any point in that thread. :noidea: You were debating the word "Limited" and what it means. And clearly now you lied. :noidea:

Sarfraz is better at causing run-outs. That's probably what he meant.

Banjo, I just don't understand how this samosa-nosed midget has created an 'aggressive' reputation for himself with the delusional greenbro fanbase.  Can't even clear the 30 yard circle when he bats, forget about hitting a 6.  Aggression doesn't mean running like a farraar mujrim  from the mental asylum after tuk-tuking the ball straight to the in-field.   Pakistan used to pride itself on its machismo - their batsmen bat with such a power deficit, even a women's cricket team would be capable of better hitting.

And you have blind haters who think this Sarfraz is better than Dhoni?  Dhoni has declined from his best, but I would say Dhoni even 2-3 years past retirement would outclass the likes of Sarfraz - this guy is several notches below Parthiv Patel.   Only way you rate him higher than MS is either you got the greenbro delusion glasses on, or your hatred for him causes you to lose objectivity.

Mccricket is a known Pakistani.. so him saying sarfraz was a better keeper doesn't surprise me atall:phehe:

Not at all. Used to defend him when he was good. Now he is not.Regarding Umesh you can scroll back clearly admitted Umesh has issues regarding accuracy and few more. And before you make another assumption: Not a Sachin fan. Neither his hater.

No I was debating the term "limited player". As i mentioned above the meaning of the term "limited" depends on the context and i did prove examples, i.e. both Dhoni and Sehwag have limited techniques but are not limited players. There's a difference between the two. Another example is Rahane even with a decent technique is a very limited player in shorter formats.

And no you were not praising Dhoni. Let me quote your post again..

You essentially called him a "limited player" (not a good batsman with limited technique), called him a glory hog, a coward and selfish player who put himself above the team. And that's exactly why you're a hater coz even when you are dissing someone you claim it's "praise" :giggle:

At least be a man enough to back your words instead of claiming such posts as "praise"

Any you be man enough to accept you never debated the duplicity of my posts. You were debating exactly what ai said before and not the twist you are giving it now. By the way this was my next post to the one you quoted which clearly explains what I meant. But alas you didn't stop there. Why did you not stop after this clarification. Here is the post :

First of all take a deep breath. I said him limited not in terms of runs scored but in terms of his abilities. He has no access to a range of shots like many players who average similar have.Neither the technique. Have you seen him dancing down the pitch in swing conditions and defending. These street smart techniques along with great game sense is his USP. What has worked for him is his ability to read the game and use his own abilities in the best possible way at the right time. He has great hand eye coordination and power game.

The term Limited is not usually used in the sense you are taking it to be and getting offended.

What you were debating was dhoni cannot be a limited batsman if he has scored many runs and excelled. If you were really debating about limited player vs limited technique you should have stopped after above post. But no you continued. :giggle:
