He got enough proper chances and failed so bad that we wanted him out of the team but selectors kept trying so that he can be picked for world cup 2011, but Indian team got lucky that Kohli scored timely knock in south africa before world cup tour in 2011 and got selected.

 

Sharma got enough chances and not just when seniors were missing and there is no doubt about it.  

Kohli was already a certainty in Indian team by the 2010 even before he played those knocks in SA, so, he was not fighting with Rohit for any spot.

how there was no talk about him? He was the captain of out U19 side, Rohit wasn't, so, he was already identified as a leader and he pretty soon after U19 WC made it to Indian team. Even in Rohit's U19 team, he was not the one talked about. It was Pujara and then Robin Uthappa.

that number 4 spot which eventually virat took in wc 2011 was rohit's but virat perfomed and sealed his spot and rohit just didnt perform

He only got that opportunity because SRT was  probably not playing that series. Sehwag and GG opened, usually GG batted at 3 with Sehwag and SRT opening. It shows that he had a start-stop career, dropped after one series. Not every player can adjust and start doing well straight away coming after a break. Some players need continuity, confidence and security.

you are absolutely wrong,rohit even played in 2006 uae tournament,he was highly rated amongst all and touted next tendulkar wheras virat though virat won u19 wc he was never given this much importance as a talent out of this world like rohit

and let me recount he was never dropped he was there for all subsequent tours ind played but never was consistent in performances

Beast when he is set. But wastes a lot of balls to get going. Can play really well on fast bouncy pitches and flat tracks but becomes a sitting duck when the ball starts swinging.

So, that was an India A tournament, even Uthappa, RP, VRV were there that does not prove anything.

and rohit made it to the side in 2007 ,so?

kohli played in that series vs lanka in 2008 when rohit was in the side also and next game virtrat played was a year later in sl prior to ct 2009 and between that rohit played and failed consistently

No you have fogotten, kohli was being left out again and again after 2010 before 2011 world cup in few series others were getting chance to play in the final x1, but consistent failures of others got him chances close to the world cup and then he sealed his spot.
