Dunno whether it's incompetence of CAB or spectators but Eden Gardens has been in trouble multiple times. 1967 incident, then WC semifinal which was very poor considering it was WC and 1999 test match against Pakistan. Then we have Cuttack and Jamshedpur incidents.

Although this isn't entirely eastern problem. Match was stopped at Rajkot when India were on course to win and someone threw paper missile in ODI against WI in 2002.

I remember reading about an exhibition match in Pune(?) where authorities allowed extra spectators in newly constructed stand it collasped. Boards have shown incompetence along with unruly behavior from people. But situation is much better now.

In Eden Gardens Same happened in 1985 when Kapil was dropped for disciplinary reasons. Against SA even the curator created a pitch favoring SA since Ganguly was dropped.

This kind of attitude is what works against honest assessement of your own side. Blaming and railing against other perceived big bad neighbour is a the lowest trick pulled by all standard politicians who are themselves incompetent and corrupt.

He is trying to normalize the fan behavior in a way by saying we are better than others. This kind of thing has been going on in SL for past few year and it is not an isolated incident.

This is how Pak, bang felt when sehwag opened his mouth.

Comparing apples with oranges. At least try to be relevant to the topic ...

Ranatunga should remember his own team's fate of getting seriously attacked  in Pak a few years ago.Terrorists or not , it happend in PAK .Another instance is the one in India's tour of PAK in 89  when an 'one day match' as a whole was  rejected due to crowd behavior. What not a psychic spectator came to the crease and tried to attack Indian captain Sreekanth. All these are worse than what happend any where in India. So Ranatunga just appears as a sore bitter jealousy loser.Nothing else.

Well he isn't wrong here. Remember my dad telling me how once the Eden crowd burnt a stand down(killing a few fans but I am not sure whether he was exaggerating) after we surrendered meekly to the WI in 60s or 70s, don't remember exactly when. We are easily among the bottom 3 as far as crowd behavior is concerned flanked by our eastern and western neighbors.

i think pakistani crowd behaves well.

Worst is bangladesh and certain regions of India. Some regions of India are the most chilled to be honest. India like always is a kaleidoscope.

the base of the matter is whether it affected  the opposition team  in any way or not, whether it be while playing in the ground or while being in the country. The base of the matter is that a set of people could create mental disturbance to the oppostion team while playing in a particular country. That is all it matters.

There is no need to bring that up. Mistake was made by India but Indians are not the only ones who behave like that. Pakistan, British all behave like that and there was no need to bring India in this context. Who cares.

Bengalis are guilty of bringing Mohun Baghan vs East Bengal passion into Cricket matches. Ranatunga has had first hand experience of that. So wont blame him for making such comment. Bengalis are far too passionate bunch. Dont know why
