What has changed about Murali Vijay?

Looking lean, thin, fit and agile.

There is more intent when playing shots.

Running between wickets is much better.

He seems to run faster than before.

Earlier, he seems happy leaving the balls or defending. But now, there is a intent to cash in on quick singles and bad balls.

Keen to see his performance on foreign conditions.

Earlier, we have seen these changes on Pujara and now in Vijay. Kohli is such an influential captain

M Vijay changed long back. Earlier he missed out on easy runs. Now he is cashing in. He should have done this a while back. Most of the times he got out runs were coming easily. He has this over-confidence against spinners. Once he balances that he will be more consistent. By nature he is one of the most organized batsman who is designed for Tests.

He was always a very good batsman, his injury in 2016 made him look relatively bad. IMO he has always been a better test batsman than Virat Kohli and in light of Rahane's recent downslide, MV is our best all conditions batsman. If he does a repeat of 2013-15 in the next round of overseas tours he will surpass Sehwag as our 2nd greatest opener in test match cricket.

He was always a good Test bat. IPL and ODI exposure confused his temperament. He’s clear in his mind  in the last 2-3 year’s that they are looking at him as a pure Test batsman. Matter of setting expectations I believe.. Not everybody has the ability to quickly adapt to all formats like a Virat Kohli

He is more circumspect and gives a bit more respect to spinners from other teams in India games. Basically doing what he should have always done score 20% more runs in home games.

makes semse now that he is more experienced the way India team operates these days. Looks like it good play defensive.2 failures and you will be dropped.

What is going on is very simple math. Two slots three players. Need to create similar competition for all such positioons and you will have absolutely the best team.

Exactly.....I believe same thing needs to be done with Rahana and Rohit...

Rahana is extremely talented batsmen and should be limited to test cricket....There are many batsmen to do the role what he is doing in ODI's but very few batsmen can do what he is doing in Test cricket....

Rohit should be limited to ODI's....He is very good ODI batsmen but pretty bad Test batsmen
