Jonny Bairstow will 'take matters further' if sledging 'crosses the line'

England's Jonny Bairstow says he will "take matters further" if Australia's sledging in the Ashes "crossed the line" again.

Wicketkeeper Bairstow, 28, said he was targeted during the first Test in Brisbane but did not reveal the nature of the words directed towards him.

He did say they were not related to the 'headbutt' incident between him and Cameron Bancroft before the series.

 

 

Bairstow also said he felt "stitched up" over how that incident was treated.

"Some other things, apart from the 'headbutt' business, were said by Australia in the middle but what they were is staying there," he wrote in a Daily Mail column.

Any other player and you'd have a point.

 

Not saying they have but IF they mentioned his father's suicide as the speculation is saying, then he's done well to ignore it, but obviously matters need to go further if they do it again.

If they have done that, obviously things have gone too far and the officials should step in, sledging is fine to an extent but mocking a person's dad who committed suicide should have no place in any sport. Never really been a fan of sledging and certainly not involving personal lives of the players.

They are capable of that and even worse. And then they invite the opposition for beer after all that. Two pronged cunning strategy to promote the myth of play hard, but friendly off the field image.

No they are not capable of going to that level . Impossible
