If Indian team has to grow, it has to move out of its comfort zone

At the moment, Indian team is happy to stay in its comfort zone, prepare doctored pitches which suits spinners, play with SG ball, curtailing growth of Indian fast bowlers  because they dont want to give advantage to touring fast bowlers and curtailing growth of batsmen against swing, pace and bounce.

 

India should be prepared to lose at home if it has to win abroad. Anybody who is happy with status quo, shouldnt expect India to win abroad.

 

This gets repeated after every overseas loss and things go back to normal and everything's forgotten but unless something drastic happens to the way cricket is played at home, things will never change.

In 2016 and 2017, most test pitches prepared in India were flat tracks and not rank turners. ( 10 out of 16 )

 

Only the first 2 tests vs Australia and the 4th test vs England, were true turning tracks.

 

3 tests were on green seaming or bouncy pitches.

The same set of batters did well the last time we toured SA, NZ, Eng, Aus  in 2013-14.  Kohli in SA, NZ,Aus,   Rahane in SA, Eng, Aus,   Vijay in Eng, Aus,   Rahul in Aus where he debuted.    We were let down by the lack of accuracy of our rookie pacers and playing a past-it Zaheer in SA, NZ.  We lacked a settled group of pacers with experience, and we lost.

 

This time around we have a group of pacers with accuracy, pace and experience ... and they have taken 40 wickets for ok runs.

 

Lack of preparation has affected the batters along with Rahane and Rahul not getting regular slots.  We had only 3 practice sessions in SA, no practice matches and we arrived in SA only 5 days before the first test.

 

If we had arrived 15 days earlier, played 2 or 3 practice matches and played Rahul, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane as the top 5 ... we would have done much better.

All regular preparations for touring sides who want to win an away series . The big question is why everyone treated it like a joke ? 

As someone with a huge affinity with Indian cricket I am bitterly disappointed at how it's turned out and I feel these guys have not just let down Indian cricket but supporters world wide who thought we might see a change where a team could go abroad, win and inject life into Test cricket

The pitches still dont have enough to help fast bowlers. They are mostly flat with low bounce and pace and then help spinners from day 3. This is simply because BCCI doesnt trust our fast bowlers to come good against Aus, SA, Eng or NZ and dont trust our batsmen against their bowlers. Its a cowardly move to be honest. Hence, dont allow our test team to become better as an overall unit and remain a one dimensional side.

 

At least 50 % of our games should be helpful for fast bowlers. Its criminal how in some test matches, fast bowlers are given a few overs with the new ball and relegated to the boundary and then Ashwin and Jaddu roll their arms over for the rest of the innings. There are some idiots who defend this gameplay as "home advantage" and these are the same guys who cry when India lose overseas.

How about have some a mix of flat pitches, rank turners and green tops so they can mix and match based on the visiting team... I liked how they used a pacy eden track against SL. They should continue to use such tracks at least against lesser teams.. and probably in domestic matches as well

Aarey bhai, it is the typical Indian mentality. Chalta hain attitude. Kya faida? Chal raha hain, chalne do! Kya bekar mein extra mehnat karni paregi? BCCI babus bhi khush, I-Pee-L aur home series jo hain. 

 

That is why I think these BCCI aussholes schedule all these overseas tour back to back over a period of just 1+ year. Survive through the humiliation non-stop, but then the silver lining is once it is over, then there is a 3-4 year period we play everyone at home or in the subcontinent /at WI (weak) and win convincingly and there is I-Pee-L every year. Players grow complacent making runs on familiar conditions and act like they are on top of the world until the year of the overseas tours come, and the cycle continues. The general public is mostly exposed to I-Pee-L and all these home wins and they do not seem to be affected by the odd overseas tour year sandwiched in between. 

 

Sab khush ho ke laora hila raha hain, so problem kya hain bhai?
