Pujara's county performance thread

every true indian fan will take a series win overseas instead of a test match win at home on rank turners.

for greater good of indian cricket , one has to sacrifice something.

anyways, troubled knee doesn't has to do anything of wrongly  judging a run, nicking to 1 st slip, or getting lbw to incoming deliveries.

But home supremacy is important, all great teams spanning different sports 1st established absolute supremacy at home. The great Aussie team lost in India (1995, 1998, 2001, 2008) and England (2005) during their reign, but from 1992 (WI) to 2008 (SA) they never lost 1 series at home. Same with football or tennis (court advantage). Without sweeping away opponents we would have lost the no 1 ranking after the 1st test in SA or maybe even earlier, guys like Pujara, Jadeja, Ashwin gave the cushion. Every Indian fan will take overseas wins but no one wants us to lose at home, was there any worse feeling than Aus (2004) and Eng (2012) beating us at home?

Troubled knee has everything to do with playing incoming deliveries, especially delivered by pacers. There is a reason Pujara is such a prime candidate for LBWs and bowleds.

Then he should fix the knee first instead of playing county cricket. A home win can also be achieved with Vijay, Dhawan and Rahul in the top order. We even won the last test against AUS without Kohli. So we shouldnt be dependent on one player. Unless you want to go back to Sachin and the 90s. That's a weak approach. You will see how austraila defends against us without Warner and Smith. And Pujara isnt a spring chicken anymore he is already 30. He started with lots of promise 6 years ago but failed to match his predecessor Dravid.

exactly.....we can win in home conditions by trying other players instead of pujara.  and all this talk of knee is bs, if his knee is injured ,then he would be resting instead of playing county .....pretty laughable excuses by @Gollum in order to prove his points.

pujara playing 5 day tests with knee problem ...loolz.....if he had , then  he would be resting.

Pujara's knee troubles are real but it won't hold him back from playing 5 day cricket. Nadal too has knee problems since 2010-11, has he retired? Don't be silly, knee problems prevent Nadal from competing on grass because he can't handle the fast skiddy surface. Similarly it only makes Che vulnerable against full incoming deliveries at high pace. He is still irreplaceable in Asia, no there aren't other players in domestic circles even close to his prowess against spin. Eng 2012, SA 2015, Aus 2017...he delivered every time on big turners. This is the worst era of players against spin, abandoning Pujara at such a juncture is suicide. He should play only in Asia just like how Rahane should play only overseas. Horses for courses, and Pujara's struggles overseas are equivalent Rahane's clownery on turning pitches.

Looks like even Ishant will outscore Pujara in his county stint. Sam Curran got the wicket of Pujara, Tom Curran's younger brother. He's just 19 & took the wicket of Root also.

That is one bloody good delivery though, would have got almost all batsmen facing it either bowled or LBW.

On topic, Pujara has been having a poor run in England but also this time of the year there has been lot of rain, clouds and chill weather which must be making the ball swing prodigiously. As I am in the UK I can vouch for that experiencing the weather live.

Come August we should have peak summer and the conditions should be totally different. That's why I think Pujara and Kohli will find life easier this time.

Superb delivery from the youngster, no doubt about that. Curran caused problems to Root as well & helped his side win by taking a 10fer. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed on Pujara, hope he comes back to form soon.

He is still our best bat on Asian pitches and probably the greatest on rank turners, so should always be in the scheme of things. His bad run overseas is mainly because of his troubled knee.

Is troubled knee code for sh*t outside Asia

The physiotherapist recommends excersise for this troubled knee , jogging of 22 yards , increase speed for 44 yards and sprinting for 66 yards will help all his physical ailments :two_thumbs_up:

He was never great to begin with but his troubled knee is making things look far worse. His knee surgery almost ended his career, he's back but with flaws. You can't just exercise and get your knee set alright. Nadal has a similar chronic problem and he is probably the most hardworking athlete in the world, yet he is unable to bend them knees and get his body position right in low bouncing skiddy Wimbledon courts, 2006-11 he made 5 finals and after his knee problem not even a QF.

Are you thick or what? In Asia pitches are much slower and quicks can't get exaggerated inwards movement they get in countries like Eng, SA. But if you observe our home season Pujara has struggled when guys like Starc, Cummins, Rabada bowled quick in dippers. Same reason Nadal has stopped winning on fast courts while he still rules the roost in slow courts. Now you don't reply further, done arguing with you.

I trust Ishant Sharma at #3 position more than Pujara. Ishant can average spending 50 balls each Inning, if thats what Pujara is now in the team for. Since argument is that he helps taking shine off from the ball.

mayank agarwal and r samarth open for karnataka ......involves blunting the new ball.

have a strong gut feeling that pujara will be replaced after 2 test matches midway  coz of poor performances and will be replaced by somebody else.

They won't be taking Mayank to England anyways.
