Indian batsmen have shelled advantage once again as England look to have upper hand on day 3

Just too many times, initiative lost by batsmen and against all odds

ffs they saw off all four of England seam bowlers and capitulated against Moeen

some grit, only some grit was needed to inch closer to 250

what’s annoying throughout the tour both Pandya and Ashwin has shown that maturity and grittiness with the bat

And when it was needed the most, series on the line, both have a brainfades

the less said about the openers the better, bunch of below par cricketers

You cant trust Pandya or Ashwin with the bat.

They will score when no one expects them to.

Jaddu should hav played this test. Atleast bowling would hav been stronger.

We need a proper no 6. Pure batsman. If u want to play pandya then remove Ashwin or one of the seamers. The top order is not good enough to afford a pandya as no 6. He is at Max a 30 run player

Obsession to play Pandya has hurt us in multiple tests.

I am grateful for his performance in 3rd test but he doesn't inspire confidence with the bat or ball.

He needs to go back to domestics and score a bunch of runs and then be brought back in.

Its unfair on Pandya to expect him to bat like a proper bat when he hasnt proven himself to be consistent in domestics for any length of time.

This is wild experimentation which would hav been understandable had we had a good batting lineup.

We dont and right now we are neither strengthening our bowling or batting.

Of course can’t trust either, and don’t wont to blame them, because they have done plenty in series with the bat, just that they have played according situation in past and yesterday was a cluster fe ck from both

but anyways if people want to point fingers at batting, the blame solely lies at the top two. The current bunch of openers are bloody pathetic.

Dhawan is an average cricketer and not good enough to play elite level. And Rahul needs to sort himself out against incoming deliveries.

can’t believe now been 7 innings and none of openers have got a 50plus score. No 3,4,5 have all got 50s on this tour.

I do't know what ICF'ers are defending here. Fact is, our batsmen let us down once again after the hardwork of our bowlers. Same as in Edgbaston.

When you are 142/2 (trailing by just 104), you bat the opposition out of the game. No two ways about it. In fact, there were no seam/ swing devils in the pitch. It was feking Moeen who did the damage

Actually i blame both of them.

Both hav scored when all hope was lost and failed when they were needed. Basically stat boosting.

Atleast Pandya has had some impact with the bat in a crucial juncture but Ashwin has been impactless.

It's got to do with selfishness in Ashwin's case. Bhuvi doesnt hav 75% of his talent but he applies so well and helps his team out.

How can we give Moeen free wickets at a crucial juncture at 195 for 5.

Criminal.

Also our regular batsmen should be ashamed of themselves.

Rahul & Dhawan -- lot below par as openers

Rahane -needed to  maintain his avg: of around 33 in ENG( sine he has been brilliant in other 3 of SENA), but a bit off from that

Ashwin - lot expected of him with the bat to  rise to the occasion but surprised as to what happend to the same man who scored 2 100s in WI and got out to a spinner for 0

Pandya - would forgive him because he won it in the 3rd test, but yet a 20 ood would have been very helpful

Pant - for a rookie with an uncluttered mind should have played with utmost positive frame of mind. Instead went into his shell.

India still have a chance if they treat 4rth inns as normal because  this is not still Indian mine field last day pitch.Having played quality spinners in domestic all the time back home, some one like Moeen shouldn't at all be a problem for  them. So this is all about  mental

adjustment especially by the 2 openers. That would be most critical in 4rth inns
