Indian batsmen have shelled advantage once again as England look to have upper hand on day 3

It was really poor effort on flat pitch. England batted in difficult conditions and 246 was good bowling effort by Indian team. They conceded 40 runs extra, but Indian batting got best conditions and failed to capitalise on this.

 

Batting 4th in this inning will be difficult. We needed a lead of 100+ and these conditions were good enough for that. England can score big on day 3 and seal the match there.

If it was pacers going through Indian batting then it would have still been ok. Although Moeen bowled well, but losing 6 wickets for 63 runs was very poor.

Recovery usually expected in these conditions. Freakish days will have team getting bundled out for 120-140 after being 86-6.

Happens in sport. Can't expect a team to be perfect all the time.

We didn't make the most of conditions. Bowling first was helpful for seamers and we didn't wrap Eng for a low score. Batting on 2nd day was easier & 141/2 should have meant a bigger score. We got both aspects to blame.

How many times this has happened overseas with us recently that we have firm grip on the game and suddenly a collapse or a session or two of poor bowling fielding and we are back to square one.

It was a 450 pitch, we messed up badly. Current bunch is hopeless, no other team in world cricket including Bangladesh would have collapsed the way we did after 140/2.

You are missing the point. We had them for 86/6 ffs and let them score 246

 

We were 140/2 with two set batsmen at the crease. We collapsed to 198/8. Only 1 batsman needed to support Pujara and we could have easily scored atleast 50 runs more.

No team scored 300, so, how it was a 450 pitch.  450 was noted scored in the last county game played here.  In the first test, England collapsed after 210/3.

This is the unique thing about Ageas Bowl unlike other venues.  Here ball swings more under bright sunlight and than under cloud cover and the reason maybe because it is a port city.  I had not observed the same even in 2014 where Anderson swung the ball crazy under bright sunlight at Ages Bowl. Same our bowlers did on day 1.  it was sunny and ball swung prodigiously.

Just too many times, initiative lost by batsmen and against all odds

ffs they saw off all four of England seam bowlers and capitulated against Moeen 

some grit, only some grit was needed to inch closer to 250

what’s annoying throughout the tour both Pandya and Ashwin has shown that maturity and grittiness with the bat

And when it was needed the most, series on the line, both have a brainfades

 

the less said about the openers the better, bunch of below par cricketers
