Go look at the numbers for any series. there is no consistency.

find me who is consistent at 7 , no one wud be

u hardly get to balls batting at 7 , n most days ull hve to go from ball 1.....which is high risk so how wud any one be consistent at 7

Vinoo Mankad - Heard about it.

Kapil Dev - Yes

Ravi Shastri - You cannot be serious.

Manoj  Prabhakar - Must be kidding

Saurav Ganguly - You are losing credibility

Irfan Pathan - Now you have lost it

Hardik Pandya - ????

Care to present some facts to support your doubts / questions /  allegations  ?

How long are you watching cricket  ?

err, no. There's nothing to make it for you.

You lack credibility to debate and discuss. You either go on tangents or give ridiculous excuses to not answer fairly logical and objective questions, when it doesn't suit you.

like I said you answered the q for me. Two allrounders in 100 years of cricket.

law of diminishing returns.

In odi he can jst play for his s/r only 1st

to hide his bowling then again ur facts are wrong coz he has very decent economy

and check some high scoring games where he came n bowled really tight

Check games in SA

t20 games in eng

infact a game against SL in Indore to ,

he came n bowled vey tight n got wkts to and those were other bowlers were going for a lot of runs. Why do u hve to hide someone with 5.5 eco....thats absolutely fine

So no valid points.

I doubt it.

From which year are you watching cricket  ?

I have seen Clive Loyds WI with Andy Roberts, lance Gibbs and Viv Richard @ FerozeShah Kotla. Now I refuse to watch tests. How about you?

I can pull a 5k in 28 mnts, not shabby at all.

Was never ever a good cricket player.

Only 3 good leg spinners in Indian cricket history. Does that mean we cannot produce another good leg spinner?

Zero chinaman bowlers in Indian cricket history. Does that mean Kuldeep cannot become a good one?

If someone focuses on becoming a leg spinner he can if spin is his trade. Even if you focus on becoming a allrounder it is nearly impossible to do that. Human body can only do so much.

I have seen Clive Lloyd's West Indies play in India too.

Thing is ...  if you have watched cricket in that era then you would know the value that Ravi Shastri brought to the team.   Opened the innings on tough tours to the Windies when others refused in those days.  Became the Champion of Champions in the Benson Hedges Cup 1985 while opening the batting.  And started off as a frontline bowler. Has almost 7000 runs and 280 wickets in international cricket.  Not small numbers in either department.

Similarly, Manoj Prabhkar was one of the rare cricketers who opened both our bowling and our batting.

And Ganguly has 11000 runs and 100 wickets in ODIs.

All of them contributed with both bat and ball.

I have a different take on this. If memory serves me correctly ravi Shastri was only 17/18 from Bombay and they pulled him in the Indian cricket team. No track record, no nothing but got selected. to me that represents everything wrong with the system.

was never a decent bowler had to bat to justify his spot and maybe pulled few runs. Only one word comes to mind when I think of him. Pathetic.

Talent spotting and development system was not what is nowadays.  The BCCI was poor in the 1980s.

At that time, Shastri was a deserving player in the Indian team.

Quite a few specialist batsmen with lower batting averages than Shastri and specialist bowlers with higher averages than Shastri regularly played for India.
