The score is dictated by the surface. As the tourney progresses, strong teams get their combination right, start playing better and go for the kill. If there is an opportunity to score 350 and go for the kill, why should we not do it? Aus piled up 360+ in 2003 when they did not need to

Tbh we could've chased 300 odd in the WC final, we were that good back then. However what 359 did was kill any hopes of a win, same with CT final or even WC SF vs Aus. The total isn't necessarily impossible to chase, but the stage & that psychological mark of 300+ ends most chases even before they begin. Most teams will lose the game in their heads even before starting the chase. This is why having good/great MO is quintessential, for setting up big totals or chasing them.

Depends upon who we are playing, the par score on the surface, the size of the ground, etc 

 

Pak blasted 330 odd in the CT final so our bowlers can have an off day and those kind of totals can be in the striking range. Whichever department is in the position to go for the kill should do it 

 

You cannot be taking singles when you can dispatch bad balls to the boundaries. And when we have players who can do that. If we get a strong start, guys like Jadhav and Hardik should be batting higher as their normal game will ensure we get an above par total

absolutely not.What we need is a more reliable middle order who can chase down good targets when the top order fails and Rayudu and Jadhav dont inspire confidence.I would rest kohli for the aussies series also to test these guys.

You are getting it wrong.Questions you should be asking -

 

1.Can middle order chase 300(not 350) from say 20-2 or 70-3?Answer is likely no.We have to get it to yes.

2.Can middle order score 350 from 180-2 in 30 overs batting first?Again answer no.We have to get it to yes.

3.Batting first can we expect middle order to get us to 270 if we are 50-3?Again no.Don't expect more than 230-40.

 

Chasing 350 if you lose 2 early wkts its curtains anyway.But not if you are chasing 300 or less like in wc final 2011.

MSD is not olaying today. 350 is needed as our spinners have been leaking runs instead of taking wickets, and captain is clueless
