England are an extremely scary ODI side.

FTBs...

They are very dependent on Root, and to an extent Morgan. Those are the key wickets. Mainly Root though.

Most teams have similar story actually. India, if they don’t get good start from Rohit and Dhawan, we can be in trouble. Just like the other day Roy gave them a good start, they chased it down easily.

Opening p’ship is so important.

This world cup has few amazing bats in each line up, too many x-factor players who can win the games for their team and at the same time be a real concern for their team if they don’t click.

Wide open world cup.

Exactly, which is why we should be more concerned about Dhawan and Rohit's form. If we boast the best top 3, they are not supposed to be 20/3  3 times in a space of 8 games.

Most of the grounds England play at will be either the 1st or 2nd game at the venue with a couple being the 3rd game. Chances are they'll mostly be fresh pitches with maybe 1 or 2 pitches that have been used once.

That's good enough. As long as the pitches are not outright belters, the margin between England and the other teams will be reduced. And any of WI/PAK/RSA/IND/NZ/full strength OZ can beat them on a good day.

what happened in second game, could not chase 290 :giggle:

Kinda a proves my point ? It’s how your openers play makes all the difference

Am not claiming that Eng will win all the matches or even the World Cup , but just that their approach to batting is something worth emulating

We already have supposed the best top 3. We play to our strengths and get good steady starts.

England depend on batdeep, and this is what happens when you depend on your middle order. It is difficult for any team to compete when they are three down. That's crikey for you.

I see a general trend on ICF of trying to copy England's approach. Eng needs to do that because they don't have what we have - our 4 bowlers. They can't even hope to emulate our bowling. We play to our strengths. And, do our best to patch up the weaknesses we have, but we should not lose sight of what our style of gameplay is.

Root should be forced to take risks.

Yep. Similar strategy to what teams do with Kohli. Put pressure on Root, because he is what holds their team together.

It is because of Root they won the ODI series last year in England (2 100s). Also, remember we had Thakur, Yadav, and Kaul as our bowlers lol.

People say what about KulCha. They need to go look at their figures. They did thei rbit, but did not receive support from the rest.
