Same goes for Smriti Irani who connected to the people a lot more than Rahul gandhi. Add to that the political machinery putting their resources behind winning something significant. DMK did the ground work and they won, just like BJP focused and chipped away at North East and Bengal this time. This has nothing to do with people getting an enlightenment. and start voting for Modi. Maharashtra and Tamil nadu have been notorious in using that. Karnataka has caught up. This is not a new phenomenon am I missing something? Have heard from more than one northie (senior director levels) that the reason for IT industry flourishing in Bangalore is more so because of the accommodating nature of kannadigas.
