Is this the strongest team to not win a WC?

Nope. Not even close. We had talent in this team but they were either too raw or over cooked. Mix it with less talented players and those who choke in the big stage, then you have India 2019 squad. So you have a mishmash of a team that is bound to fail at some point.

I suppose WI in 1983 WC was the strongest to not win a WC followed by 1999 SA

We topped the group. We won the Pak, Bangladesh and SL games at a canter. WI and South Africa we brushed aside. We smacked Australia for 360 odd. We dominated the group stages completely. Except for the Afghanistan game which was close, for the others the result was never in doubt, including the game we lost to England.

Yes, our top order had a paralytic stroke in the semifinals, but that doesn't change the fact that we totally dominated the group stages.

Pak, SL, Bangladesh, Afghanistan are mediocre sides. Winning against them at this moment is a bare minimum. South Africa strangely played very bad. The only good team we defeated is Australia.

With our completely absent middle order, this was one of the weaker Ind teams to make the SF. Bowling was top throughout, but the batting... less said about it, the better. And our batters also proved that they are mental midgets (and possibly FTBs) against Bolt and co.
